My band played with Shadows Fall when they came to Houston a while back. They were good. Here's my list in no particular order.sidpro5 said:1.Slayer

3.Pantera
4.Old Metallica
5.ShadowsFall--Only heard a few songs, but they sounded pretty cool

i guess its a matter of opinion, but anyway, when slipknot released their 1st cd, i bought it right away and saw them live and thought they were awesom. then one day, a friend of mine told me about mudvayne and made me listen to their cd. although its not too bad on cd, i saw them live last year twice (i went to the Sanitarium Tour twice, Montreal and Toronto) and i wasnt too too impressed. It sounded more like noise than music, compared to that time i went to see slipknot which was just amazing. They have more people on stage, but most of them are just there to give a show. like the 2 percussionists. Slipknot's songs are not musical masterpiece a la Iron Maiden (or whatever band you like) but i thought they were more entertaining and sounded better live.vindication said:All yoou guys that are listing slipknot and not Mudvayne do realize that is a big mistake. While i like slipknot they do not compare to the talent of mudvayne. Slipknot has like 3 times the people and are still not as good as mudvayne. They are on of my favorite and way better than slipknot.

yes that's what i forgot IN Flames are greatLola 2.0 said:I love the variety that has been listed, but Suprised that In Flames hasnt been mentioned. They reaffirmed my faith that real metal still lives, even if its only in Sweden.![]()
See the borders are to thin. I know people who classify deep purple as metal and some that say they are not. AC/DC is definately up there however my personal thing is to call them heavy rock'n'roll. But that's just me. AC/DC are great however.pingdum said:How dare you
AC/DC are so metal...Angus Young is a true hero(headbang)
And noone has mentioned Motorhead...Lemmy is God!
more recently...
Blood Duster
Groinchurn
Total ******* Destruction
Dillinger Escape Plan
S.O.D.

Well, in 2004 compared to Cannnibal Corpse or Slayer, AC/DC or Deep Purple don't seem very Metal, but in 1978, these bands where as heavy as it got. That's why us old coots still think of them that way. Don't forget the first band to use the term "Heavy Metal" wastyusha said:See the borders are to thin. Steppenwolf. I don't think many people would think of them that way. You can hear Steppenwolf on the Lite Rock stations these days.
