Fatty brake upgrade

I remember some time in the past when i was looking around at random stuff i came across an adapter for our stock brakes for a larger (big brake size) rotor which came with the rotors and adapters etc, i can't remember for the life of me what it was called or who made it (r something i think)

just curious if anyone has seen/heard of/have/ it or somethign like it

i don't feel like droppin a few g's on some stoptechs or wilwoods and i think that increased disc diameter and new pads should provide far superior stopping power to stock

anyone?(mj)

be ready to wait for them, I ordered mine 5 weeks ago and they still don't have the parts in from KVR which is the company that makes the rotor for the kit!:wtf:

I ordered the kit from RR racing I have been talking with Rafi the man in charge and he told me KVR is what is holding everything up

cross drilled are much much less prone to cracking and they offer better grip - that's why you went through pads quickly

i'm going to wait and do a complete upgrade, front and rear, to AP racing later down the track

actually ive heard cross drilled r more prone to cracking around the holes where its drilled and he went thru so many pads cause the slots on slotted rotors eat away at brake pads quicker than normal, both these kind of rotors r mainly used for track/road racing where a car is on the brakes hard over a long period of time, not stop and go traffic like we r used to. just get either u want, but in my opinion blank rotors r prob our best bet on street driving, and i recommend the brembo blanks and hawk hps pads r very good as well.

the bigger rotors will mean a couple things, especially if your lowered, remember with your suspension and your wheels there ahs to be room inbetween for that bigger rotor and the caliper that has to sit on it. So you will need to know in advance what the offset and clearance is on your wheels and if your using xcustom suspension doubel check that also.

cross drilled and slotted, both processes are used for 1 thing and slotted for an extra, both are to allow more air to reach the brakes and brake pads to keep them cooler and prevent brake fade in long oir heavy driving situations.

The only time slotted is recommended is if you yuse it for track use a decent amount of the time. The slot have an edge on them similar to a knife that scrapes the pads clean each time they come in contact, this is for heavy race use where buildup of dust and mud/whatever can happen ont he pads. This is also why they wear pads so quickly, they scrape them each time.

Cross drilled helps to cool the braks and since they are holes and not slots they dont cut or shave the pads. Also stress fractures along the holes are in cheaper brand brakes from what I have heard, to make their looks better they out more holes in the brakes which makes it weaker, if you look at eibacj or wilwood cross driling they are usually fewer and in patterned lines meant for best cooling and strength.

Brembo makes a set of rotors cross drill same as stock size for our cars, usually sold in sets of 4 on ebay for 200-220.

heavy heavy applications use drilled and slotted, those tend to be weaker and need to be replaced often. on bigger sizes that is.
