hey guys,

getting some new wheels courtesy of Rishie (ADR gt sport 17" in silver), but am trying to decide on a set of summer tires that are QUIET but will last long (i have a set of winter hankook ice bears that are awesome) - i'm currently running kumho ecsta 711(?)s on my stock PR5 wheels and they seem to be much louder than the hankooks.

so, has anyone tried these two tires? i've read nothing but good things about the falkens but haven't read too much about the hankooks...one thing people say about the falkens is that they're good for all season, but i only want spring/summer/fall tires cause i have my winter ones already.

thanks.

i run the 512s.. had them since january still have over half of the tread left.. its a very quiet ride and they hook up nice in the dry weather.. not to bad in the rain too.. even with the turbo they grip nicely

Yeah, I've got the Ziex Ze 512 tires and I could not be happier. They are great! Nice, smooth and quiet ride with great performance in the rain. Excellent grip when dry, too. I highly recommend them. (thumb)

I got Ziex 512's on the protege, they grip very well and have a quiet ride. this is the send set I bought for the protege, they are good tires.

i had the ziex, they are very quiet and have plenty of grip. they eliminated lot of my wheel hop. i was happy with them except they didn't last very long.

i had the 512s on my car new when I bought it. they were really nice, gripped great, no road noise, good dry and wet. I tried Pradas after them and they were the worst things ever. I have Potenzas now because I got them real cheap, but next time I have to buy tires I'll be purchasing 512s again. great bang for the buck.

wow, sounds like everyone loves the falkens....but no one using the hankooks huh? thanks for the comments guys, keep 'em coming!

hey,

I work at Kal tire and I have the Falkens on my Protege, my friends Jetta VR6, my other friends 1991 integra and like 100 customers. Everyone thinks they are awesome tires.

Personally I love them, they dont' have a harsh sidewall so ride quality is excellent. Dry traction kicks ass, wet traction is amazing, standing water they will still tend to hydroplane a bit. Plus depending on who you by them from you will get a mileage warranty which is unheard of for most performance tire manufacturers.

Matt

i guess there really isn't a decision to be made - falken it is? i'm really just concerned about the noise from the tire....cause my kumhos are really loud

you wont hear a sound from the falkens as far as road noise, but they speak a little on turns to let you know how you are doing, if you drive spirited then this is a good thing. again i think they are great tires. i totally agree with the Kumhos, worst road noise ever, like driving next to a jacked truck with super swampers all the time.

512's all the way. I run those on everything. You WILL NOT find a better tire for the price.

I have had the 512's on my 3 HB since April because I only have one set of tires for my car. And I agree that they are a great bang for the buck, but as an all-season tire I believe that there are trade-offs.
If you are looking for a summer only tire, why not consider the 615's UHP?

hey guys, thanks for all the posts about this. i ended up getting the falkens and they've been really great so far, no complaints. much quieter than the kumhos i had on there previously! and so cheap, i love it.

I had this tire after my factorys wore out, they where a good tire except the mileage was not that great maybe 30,000 90% of which where highway.

You sure it was the 512's? I forget the model that they replaced (the 210 or sum-such) but they've only been out a relatively short time.
I only got 20K out of the OEM Badyears and they were $160-290 ea before install! If I get 30K out of these (@$87 ea. installed) I'll be a pretty happy camper.

I just recently replaced the 512s I had, they were new when I bought the car two years ago and I got pretty good mileage out of them considering I autox in them. So I got more than 20K. I am sure if I didn't abuse them they would have went 30K easily.

Great thread. Just helped me decide on picking up some Falken Ziex-512's. They should be here in a couple of days. And yes, damn my Kumho's are loud.....they're driving me nuts(shocked)

Well, here try this on for size....

Well I had the Ventus... they were alright, one blew up, but they were kinda old and the sun had cracked the rubber.... after that i got Fuzion ZRi s and i love them... excellent traction on dry... havent tested on wet yet, they are 200 miles old :)
