Hello all,
I took possession of my 2008 Mazdaspeed 3 Sport on Christmas Eve, Merry Christmas to me... the dealer (who shall remain nameless) was fairly clueless and I managed to get him to knock off $1000 off the sticker and up my trade by $1000 as well. Needless to say I was pleased.
My previous car was a 2001 Miata that I purchased new. I loved that car and had done considerable work to the interior, lots of IL Motorsport chrome, Voodoo knob, some Nakamae trim, but the birth of my daughter in October 2006 simply rendered the Miata impractical, even as a second car. Also the fact that I'm 6ft, 260 pounds has to be taken into consideration as well. I did my research and wanted to stay in the Mazda family and chose the Mazdaspeed 3.
My initial impressions of this car have thus far been confirmed. I love having torque to spare, always a problem in the Miata, the handling is excellent as this is the first front wheel drive car I've owned and the understeer is hardly noticable. I also love the "Q" ship styling, as no one really seems to realize the potential this car has. Some mods are probably in the future, but I'm taking my time with all of that.
