Factory In-Dash Stereo Question?

Quick question?

Does anyone know if you can just replace the factory head unit with an aftermarket one and have the keyless remote still work? I know in the older Hondas the remote was tied into the stereo so when you got a new deck you had to keep the old one powered up and shove it back into the dash or your remote wouldnt work... Probabaly a stupid question and im guessing that you can remove it but i just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

Ha Ha Ha actually no one of my friends did.... I had a 2000 Civic Si the ones that were nice before honda ruined them with the new ones!!! they fixed the problem on that one, i didnt have to keep my factory stereo in... but thanx 20ESGUY for the info!

I think it was 94-97 with those stupid radios. You can replace them but you have to stuff the factory radio back into the dash! (wow)

Actually 96-98, but yeah that was one of the stupidest designs I've ever since too.

For my own records which models. Anything with keyless entry right?

All EX models and anything with factory keyless entry, which is only a few LX models that dealers had it added to.

Wtf does the alarm system have to do with the HU??? (in the Hondas)

Honda engineering, thats the problem within itself.

Side note, did you guys here that the new chevy Malabu will have the Accord V6. What a bunch of losers. Oh. Wait, mazda puts there engines in Fords. Oh well, Chevy and Honda still suck.(bj)
