Factory Gauge Mod

No pricing info yet guys, please be patient! I still have no idea what it is going to cost me to have it manufactured. Also there are probably forum rules here, and group buys I have to setup. Trust me there will be no dragging of the feet :D

I was serious about putting the installation/setup manual together for you. I used to do that stuff for a living. I'll even fly out to Phoenix to gather data. :) Of course I'll even sign an NDA if you'd like. My in-laws live out there so the wife and I could make a weekend of it.

Thanks for the offer. I'll let you know when I get that far

I don't know what it is since that thread is blocked here at work...

BUT I WANT ONE (judging from everyone's reactions).

The thread pertains to anonymous bestiality sex. Since you're so enthusiastic, you go to the front of the line.

I am in Phoenix, let me know if you need a 2010 speed 3 to test on. Also, I'd be willing to help you with these. I'm an IT director, and am no stranger to technical writing or technology (unix admin for 10 years, now soulless management)

I live in Cave Creek. Send me a PM if you need or want help.

Pieter, I was about to sign up for an account over at the RX8 forum until I saw that you're here as well. You, Sir, are nothing short of a genius. Nothing that I can say that hasn't been said already. Many kudos, the best of luck in getting it manufactured, and put me down for one. I'm gonna tell as many ppl as I can about this. (headbang)

I thought about this a couple of years ago (it's simple enough to do since both CAN buses are available on the diagnostic connector) but I thought nobody would like it because of the display limitations (12 characters), especially when compared to a dot display (e.g. Dashhawk).

OK, guys from Phoenix named Peter are officially in charge of the universe. When I had my first Supra a million years ago, a guy named Pete Sterling from Phoenix made a "semi-electronic" boost controller kit and several other homemade mods that were wildly popular in the Supra community. (Your last name isn't Sterling, is it?!?!)

I was going to sign up over on the RX8 forums, but I'll just watch both threads & chime in over here. Thanks so much for putting forth the effort, taking the time, and exploring the possibility of sharing this with the community!

Impressive!

This is a great looking device. Re-using the existing display is impressive and a great alternative to additional gauges (especially for keeping a stock looking-style).

When GOODbox becomes available for sale, I will be very interested in purchasing one for use in a 2008 MS3.

Will this work if the vehicle has an aftermarket radio installed?

In my case, only the far right portion of the LCD display above the head unit works. I purchased a used 2008 MS3 with an aftermarket radio already installed by the prior owner and, unfortunately, as a result - the middle and left side of the LCD above head unit appear to have been disabled. It seems the GOODbox should be able to still use the display. Can it also make use of the left hand area (that is for the clock)?

Hey guys! Wow that thread is showing up on forums from all over the internet! Thanks for the enthusiastic support! I am currently trying to find a manufacturer, and once that is up and running I will see about making it work for the MS3/6. My buddy here in Phoenix has an '08 MS3 so I have a car to test it out with.

Electrical engineer!

lol I figured that's what you were but sheez I still go to school for what you do, and I do not have the balls to try it on my own car. haha
