The current styling of the Mazda MX-5 could well be described as just a bit boring with very round corners that play it safe. Mazda would like to change the image of its iconic little roadster and revised styling is certainly on the way. We have an early shot of the changes courtesy of the interwebs and, while they are a welcome refresher, the design team didn't quite go far enough. The only real changes visible to the naked eye are in the front fascia, which sports styling inspired by tweaks made to the latest rotary-powered RX-8. Front and center is a gaping grill that features five distinct corners instead of the old oval opening. Flanking that new mug are angled fog light surrounds and swept-back headlights above. The changes are mostly design elements seen on Mazda's latest batch of concept cars, though overall it's a safe update for an already safe design and very close to what we were expecting but we're still hoping for more from the next-gen MX-5.

Not terribly different.

I'm more concerned about the "radical" redesign they are promising for 2011.

Embrace it.. you'll never think twice again.. once you own a miata, every other car feels too big and too sluggish :)
Oh don't tempt me - I'd love to own a two-door. Miata, S2000, RX-8 (not really a two-door), etc would be great but my fiance' would kill me. Not exactly "family car" material.

Dude.. I'm married and I have one :D You only really need one family car unless you have kids. The wife has a CRV.. That's all we need :)

Give in to temptation.

But if you are going to get a miata, succumb to NA hotness.. Barn doors FTW :D

I'm marrying a Catholic - oh, there will be kids, LOL :) We both own Proteges and I have an old Toyota pickup as well. She's already told me any kids won't be riding in my car and selling mine seems unlikely so if we sold her's we'd have to get a replacement four-door. Boo...

Hmm.. Sell old toyota pickup, buy miata. I had a 96 tacoma in my stable that I got rid of lol.

That is unless you have one of those old toyotas with an ungoldy amount of miles and you just want to keep it going for fun.. That I can get behind.

All I'm saying is, just go test drive a miata. Bring your girl with you. That's what I did, and that's my starlight blue mica miata you see above :)

like the front; don't like the stick-out taillights. any word on whether they're going to put a proper suspension on it (at least as an option)?
