Extended Warranty

7 years / 180,000 Km for $1450 Cdn

Worth it?! I bought it already but thinking of backing out with tomorrow being my last chance.

That price is for the protege line which would make it a pretty good deal for the MSP. I'm worried that they might jack it up for the MSP once the 2003.5 comes out if I wait to get it later.

Help plz. Thanks!

I bought it but now I regret it since I am moding my car and basically voiding it if they see the stuff I am doing/done

I have one on my MSP

Got a very good deal on my Extended warranty.
I only paid 700.00 for my 75000 mile plan.
They gave me about 1000 off the car and I drive
27000-30000 miles a yr. I wanted to have warranty coverage for more than two years.
In the end its really up to you , your number of miles a year, can you afford a big repair, can you perform the repair, etc.
I dont want to jack with repairs right now so I bought it and will modify my car after it runs out until then I'll just drive and enjoy my stock MSP.
I may add a K&N because (according to my service manager) it wont void my warranty.

Got the 7year/100,000mile. I put about 20k a year on so it was worth it for me.

How much are they charging for this package down the states?!

Anyone here knows of the finer details with these Mazda extended warranty programs?

I change cars like underwear, so I probably wouldn't buy the ext. warranty. But if you keep your car for a really long time, it might be worth it.
In Canada, the powertrain warranty is 5 years/100k anyway, well beyond my needs.

Is that a bumper to bumper 7 year for the extra $1450? If thats the case it sounds pretty reasonable. If you can add the warranty at a later time then don't do it now. Wait and see if you have any problems during the regular warranty period and then decide. Who knows, you might not even keep the car that long.

If its not bumper to bumper then I wouldn't bother.

It's bumper to bumper including powertrain. I was told that the coverage is also additional for the basic 3/80k. I don't quite know what that mean yet as I didn't really digged further. An implusive decision it was.

The reason to buy it now is that they might raise it to reflect the cost and complexity of the MSP. This pricing schedule being used right is that of the regular Protege line. So in that sense, it seems like a bargain if you keep the car for long. Helps in resale too in the later years I guess.

I hope you change your underwear everynight. (rofl)
Artitek, did you back out of the extended warrenty today?
Most owners will do minor or major modding to their cars, so if you are one of them, save your money and put it towards the mods as it will void eventually anyway.
I never even thought of getting the ext warrenty, since i believe that if you take care of the car, it should last you a good 7-10 years without any major problem. Keep it mind, this is a Protege we bought here. They are realible cars! :)
