Experience with dirt for sand leather interior - I have a dog & I drink coffee!

Thanks for posting, Paul. I plan to do the same as you - back seats down w/ cargo cover & tray. How has the white on the door panels & interior roof held up for you in terms of dog hair / dirt and human touch? I am thinking of times when I car camp, or drive on summer dusty forest service roads. I live in a city so the majority of the time I'll use the car for city driving, but I do outdoorsy stuff and garden. As I mentioned in my post, I am not someone who is obsessive about cleaning the car & I don't want to have to spend extra time just because of the white. But if its just a matter of wiping the interior when it gets dirty, I wouldn't mind.

I wipe the inside doors down once or twice a month just with a damp rag and that is sufficient for keeping it clean. The leather'ette' pieces of the door are cleaned with leather cleaner once or twice a year.

I don't let the dog in the back seat though - sometimes the back seats are down and she can get around but I try to keep the seats up and she gets the trunk space. Keeps the fur a little further away.

We have a 95 lb yellow lab with the light interior. The dog sits in the back seat on this https://www.amazon.com (commissions earned). The cover stays put fairly well for a large dog jumping in and out of it. No issues so far, car is about 1 year old. I vacuum the seats every few months, but the cover doesn't allow the dirt to penetrate into the seat.

For comparison, the driver's seat is still looking ok. I have cleaned it twice in about 1 year of ownership. No discernible color change.

Seriously, the only thing good about the white leather is AESTHETICS. It really makes the car cabin 'look' much spacious and of course, beautiful.

Other than that, it's freaking difficult to maintain, especially when one is a clean freak ( like me:( ). It's not just blue denim jeans that stains. Even your leather belts do(notcool)

Good to know seat covers work! Any problems (annoying finger/paw prints) with the white on the door panels? Thx for the reply!

No...he's a drooler, so that gets on the door on the exterior, but nothing a soft cloth can't wipe away. Other than that no marks at all.

I live in a cool climate, that didn't occur to me. Good to think about. I rarely have to use the A/C, tho. ;) Still Mazda should have offered black in this exterior color, seems lame. I am inclined to agree w/you about dogs in cars, for sure. However, my dog is too big for a car crate and is not allowed in the front seat. He stays put in the back seat, laying down. And is not my constant companion in the car:)

MEB I agree with you. Mine is too big for a car crate, and once he's in the back he either sticks his head out the window at every stop light or lays down on the cover.
