Expensive to Insure?

Hello folks,

Prospective 2002/2003 Mazda Protege 5 buyer here. I'm wondering how insurance rates for the P5 stack up against other cars?

I realize that driver history and age, etc. influence rates, but from a pure repairs/theft/safety standpoint, how would a P5's insurance rates compare to some other cars: 1997 Lexus ES300, 2001 Civic 4dr, 2000 Toyota Camry, 2001 Honda Accord. I mention these ones to get a relative idea. (stash)

I've done research on the car, looks like it'll be worth the purchase (I hope) :) .

Thank you!

It really all depends man what discount you get, your driving record, and your covereage! The best thing to do is to call your insurance co and get a qoute.. its free and easy. The p5 is cheaper to insure then s2000 and cheaper to insure a 94 grand am about 5 years ago for me and that wasnt full coverage where the p5 was.

I have a very bad record mine is like 135 a month for liability w/sr22 but I'm sure it would be a lil cheaper for a p5

The best approach is to talk to your agent or someone else in insurance and see if they can give you the vehicle "class." If they can they can give you other similar vehicles in the same class for you to compare to.

Thanks a lot folks! My insurance company is giving me $150/month and that's not even comprehensive. They cite it as being in "category 4/4" in terms of expense. I'm still looking to go ahead with the vehicle, lets hope it's worth it :) .

Damn I pay 198 a month for full coverage on a 03 msp, 04 mazda6, 94 f150 with 3 driveres with 50k/500k/50k coverage and a 250 deductable with road side assistance.

I'm paying somewhere between $55-$60 a month for full coverage w/State Farm. 34 and no prior accidents...and have been with them since I was 16.

Do you have a DUI or something? 20 speeding tickets perhaps? LOL That's just scamming.

2 speeding 1 reckless on private property 2 seat belt 1 failure to use turn signal 4 driving on suspended and my favorite exceeding the limitations of a moped. even my insurance agent laughed about that. i learned the hard way, almost everything comes off in july and i dont have to carry an fr44 after october. i ended up paying a little over $3k to get my liscense back

and the 580 a month was for non owners insurance dmv requires me to keep insurance to keep my licsense even though i didnt have a car in my name. right now im paying $155 a month on a 4 door 91 civic liability it would be $120 but dmv changed their laws and now i have to have an fr44 instead of an sr22.

hopefully this will explain to any younger people to not **** up like i did
