Exhaust

if that's the exhaust not including the cat on the manifold(im guessing it is, as I see no manifold) then it looks nothing like mine, I had just the one metal box down from the cat, but tbh it wont matter if its a cat or a silencer as its coming off anyway, the new exhaust will be starting straight after the monitored cat/manifold/downpipe whatever you want to call it lol

The 1.3l petrol only has one cat from what I can tell. Only the 1.5l had the dual, and not in all markets. USDM all have dual-cat.

So I'm still looking at a few different tip styles, but should I stick with the 2inch piping or would it be worth going up to 2 and 1/4 inch piping?

Thanks for the link Cosh but I had to choose from the site I linked, that's where this guy gets his parts from, so that tip I linked, with 2 1/4" piping from flange at manifold/cat all the way to backbox +vat and fitting, comes in at 350, so this should be good, 2 weeks I have to wait, not long left, plenty of pics this time though :)

The pre-fl mazda 2 had one cat. The f/l had 2 cats.

Chris it is normal as your 2 is pre-fl to have one catalyst, a resonator and the back box.

Thanks AN7 that helps the issue a lot, so do you think I will be gaining much from having this new exhaust fitted since I don't have a 2nd cat restricting my exhaust gasses?

Chris

I ended up having 2" piping fitted (OD) and because I didn't want a stupidly loud/raspy exhaust the guy fitted it with a sports silencer and I must say I'm super happy with it, head over to my build log and you can see the pics :)
