ok..so over the weekend i spent lots of time changing the head off of my p5.... went from a completely STOCK head... to a new head... decked 0.010'' ported and polished, intake port matched, valves cleaned up and new springs, retainers, and all taht stuff on jdm cams.... when i fired it up to see if all was working well with out the header on.. it smelld odd and was running rich and burnt a little oil.. but that was due to me some how spilling some in the exhaust chammbers... my question being.. is after 20 minutes of running, should the exhaust be wet in the head?.... yes i stuck my fingers in there because it was REALLLY black and well was weird

any ideas?

If you did a complete heead rebuild, the first 10 minutes is just breaking in the cam... I'm assuming you did a cam "break-in" right?
Keep in mind the cam, lobes etc are coated in cam lube (or should be!) typically it's red. That stuff has to burn off etc, yes it will smell unusual.

Thinsg will smell odd for awhile, if it's still odd after it's all back together and has been driven awhile then you can be worried about it.

well.. the only thing i forgot to do was to oil the cam... i did oil the bearings and what not... all the journals... and anything moving... they should fill with oil from the oil pump though... i drove it home last night.. which is about 30 minute drive... nothing over 3300 rpms... just to be safe.... at first my girlfriend rev'd it to 7 and i didnt know... so im hooping and praying that she didnt screw anything up...
