exhaust questions

Somewhere I read that someone had a 6" pipe added to an exhaust for a P5. I was looking at the Mazdaspeed exhaust for that car. Is it the same as the one on our cars or is it more of a high performance exhaust than the MSP exhaust. Just wondering.

Your best bet would be to get a univ. muffler (apexi N1,5 zigen..etc) and have a muffler shop make the custom piping for it. The mazdaspeed muffler for the p5 will hinder performance on your MSP.

how big is the piping for the mazdaspeed exhaust? i think it's 2.25". if it is, don't get it. stock piping size is maybe 2.15234534". it's really really really small.

here are some pics of my exhaust...3 inches all the way back but 2 3/4" at the bends...

so you didn't go with mandrel bends? How was the performance increase with that setup? I heard we need as much free-flow as we can get.

with a turbo, the general rule of thumb is to have the freest flowing exhaust possible to minimize the backpressure against the turbo. crush bends will work just fine but mandrel bends are better. check out my earlier post for pics of my exhaust.
