Exhaust help please.

From what I have read, it seems like exhaust mods are causing the noticable smoke. I wonder if it has something to do with backpressure changes moving to aftermarket. Seals generally shouldn't be affected that much by backpressure but I am wondering if anyone has smoking that doesn't have or ever had an exhaust mod done.

my friend installed a DP and it started to smoke bad. he took it in with a DP and a intake and they replaced the turbo and PCV? PVC? valve. he said the problem was first in the valve thing and second the turbo had a small leak or crack in it.

Oh I see.. so I can up the boost without a boost controller? All I need it the AP?

yea you can do it either way, but wit mbc the dealer can detect the increased boost pressure. with the ap, you save the stock map, and install a tuned map. when you visit the dealer you reflash the ecu with the stock map and the car appears untouched.

Well, here's the deal with warranty-work... if you have a mod of ANY kind, you don't void the entire warranty, you void your coverage for that part. So, as it stands now, I can't get a new intake, BPV/BOV, or shifter from them, since i have a COBB SRI, HKS SSQV, and COBB STS installed. Everything else is still covered. As far as exhausts go, it doesn't matter if it's aftermarket or not, an exhaust is a piece of the car that WILL eventually go bad, so even if it's aftermarket, have it professionally installed either at mazda or otherwise, and if not at mazda make sure you have the service report from where you had it done.. its like oil in a way, its gonna go bad, DIY or not. They can't blame your aftermarket parts for the problem with the stock turbo, they may be connected but the aftermarket part has to be DIRECTLY responsible for the problem and they have to prove it otherwise you can take the argument straight up the corporate ladder and get it taken care of higher up. its all about leverage and knowing what you can get away with
