Exhaust cutout vids

With my cutout I go from 9.5 to 10psi. So I have 1/2 psi spike...

But like you can see in my sign (DSM AFC) I don't have to worry about going kaboom.

how much do one of these kits cost? and where did you order it from?
I ordered mine from here: http://www.badlanzhpe.com/index.html
The y-pipe, cutout, and extension are sold seperatly.

I recommend buying the little extension to help directing the flow towards the road. It also protects the cutout door from getting damaged (water, rocks, etc).

The owner Charles Gerst, is really a cool guy. Great customer service and really helpfull when there is a problem.

What I did actualy is that I bought the cutout, hi-flow cat (Magnaflow.. see pics for model and part #) and non-foulers and then went to a muffler shop to get it custom build.

I bought the cat for $74 cnd in a group buy on a canadian forum 2 months ago.

You COULD get a midpipe with only the cutout on it, but your overall exhaust noise would still be louder and would attract attention from police cars, that's why I went with the hi-flow option just to be safe, keeping the noise level stock when closed.

I also choosed to put the cutout where the 1st cat was originally. The main reason is that this place is aligned with the front wheels axle. So I won't have to worry about speed bumps because the cutout will raise with the front wheels.

That sums about everything I took in consideration for my design. Hope it helps.

Whats the difference between your setup and the Qtec setup? I really want to get something like this for my MSP.

Well, Qtec aren't making a midpipe for the msp. I saw a thread about this a while back but I don't think it ended up with a product.

Basicaly, the Badlanz is cheaper than the Qtec and you can get the little extension after the switch itself. (even with the extension it is still cheaper than the qtec). That's why I went for the Badlanz one.

Performance wise ? how much gains you think you got ?

I'm not 100% sure, I'd say around 15whp but I'll have to try it on a dyno to be sure about my numbers.

I'm pretty sure that I'm loosing low-end torque but I definitely see an increase on the high-end (according to my dyno-butt).

if I was interested and wanted to hook it up to my stock exhaut, what size would that be?
Stock msp exhaust is 2" but Since I was at it, I upgraded for a 2".

SpeedBeaver,

How is the cut-out holding out?
Holding like a charm.

Every now and then, when I jack up the car to check some other stuff, I just open the cutout, take an old peice of rags around the edge to remove any deposits that accumulated and could cause the cutout to leak on the long run.

That's about the only maintenance I have to do.

so its like having a exhaust but you can turn it off and on? so you can have what you want and the women wont complain about the gay sound of a aftermarket exhaust? i hear manual are better is this true?

You mean manual as controlled by an electronnic switch?

If so yes, they are better than the ones wastegate-like controller so they don't always open when you boost.
