Mazda CX-9 GT
Well tomorrow is a big day, as I pick up my new CX-9 and enter an era of sporty 7-passenger driving. It was a long process involving the Honda Pilot, Hyundai Veracruz and Toyota Highlander, but in the end, the driving experience of the Mazda and the feel of the interior experience that made the decision for me. Obviously, there are a number of incentives available at this time of year to persuade would-be buyers, and that played a role as well.

I also spent a good deal of time in the Honda, Toyota and Mazda Forums to hear what owners had to say about their cars. If you want to know what is wrong, then those are the places to check! I am happy to say that this was by far the best and was extremely informative in the decision making process.

So I am going to throw out there a request for tips, ideas, suggestions and overall guidance for my new CX-9. Anything that you feel compelled to share would be great to hear!

Get it for under 34, fully loaded and you got a good deal. Lots of info on this forum. Welcome!! I'm also very enthusiastic about my 9. Like a kid in a candy store, its like it is too yummy and I love to eat it up. 1st order of business for you: make sure you get a bottle of touch up. Mazda tends to have pretty thin edges, sometimes paint chips off on corners, edges, etc. Paint chips off of the primer, but not down to the bare metal, which is a good thing, but still, you'll want some touch up to keep up with it over the years.

The "air of superiority" you will develop more than offsets the price of the vehicle! Even my "Plain Jane" Sport has hunter instincts.

If you're thinking of getting some accessories, the winter mats are nice, I leave them on year-round in the back, but take out the front ones in the summer.

We've had no issues with our 2008, it's my wife's daily driver and it's performed very well, especially in the snow (and here in Pittsburgh, it's extra hilly everywhere). Road trips are great, it's much quieter than my last two cars, and passengers always seem to praise the power of the air conditioning for some reason. As well, with the 3rd row up there is still quite a bit of space to put stuff behind the seat, including a stroller, something that was not possible with the Highlander or even the Veracruz. So it's worked out nicely for us.

The only other thing I'm thinking of doing is maybe tinting the front windows to 35% or so, it does get a bit hot when it sits in the sun with that black leather, but the air conditioning does work very well to cool things off.

At one point, I was looking at the Veracruz as well and was almost smitten by its awesome audio and roominess, but after seeing and test driving the "9", the game was over. Enjoy!

Congrats and Welcome!

As much as i love my Touring model i wish i had a GT. But mine was the right price and right time.
