Ex-MSP'er Looking For More Room

:
2008 Mazda MX-5 5MT PRHT
Hey guys. So I've been on these forums for a little while now. I've been away for a little over 6 months as I've had my X-Runner. I've been back a time or two just to pop in and see how things are. I'm actually in the market right now for finding a new ride. I'm here because I want to get a Mazda5. I've always liked them but never needed one. Well, the family might be growing soon enough so I want to go ahead and get prepared for it.

If any of you guys know where I can find a 2008-2010 Mazda5 (I don't want the silly grin one). The only REAL stipulation is I have to have the MT. Of course, I'd prefer Touring or Grand Touring but I'm not even sure those came in the MT. The lower the miles the better (trying to keep it right around where my 09 XR is so in the 25k-30k ballpark). I've already been approved for a loan by my credit union, now I just gotta find the right one.

I've already scoured Carmax.com and AutoTrader.com. Craigslist is essentially worthless in my area. I'm willing to transport the thing but the biggest deal is buying one sight unseen. So if you know of a good one in the area or are willing to check one out for me, I'd much appreciate it. If nothing else, just keep your eyes peeled for me.

Thanks in advanced guys!

Call your local dealerships- they can track down used inventory and transfer cars from other dealers.

Yeah, I might have to. I've got a couple feelers out there but most of them are not panning out. I don't understand how people can get a 5MT mixed up with an AT. There was one in Tennessee. "I'm calling about the 2010 Mazda5 in Manual transmission." "Oh... I don't think we have one in stock." "How about stock #*****?" "Oh that was the manager's car, it's an auto. Still interested?" *dial tone*....

I'm afraid to give people my name, number and e-mail. I did that for a transport of a car that ended up being sold and I'm still getting calls a week later.

Thanks dude. I'm trying but I'm not back yet. Silly asshats are trying to offer me like 5 grand less than what I know my truck can get. Even for a stealership that's asinine. I expected to be like 2-2.5K in the hole. **** em. I'll find my baby soon. I've got plenty of time to look.

When I was searching for mine, I came across a lot of 5s on the east coast. try this site~~~~> autogurus.com... I got a 2010 Touring in May with 22,000. I traded in My Honda Pilot since I don't know where gas prices are headed. I got a pretty good deal. THe 5 has a LOT of personality. The Pilot was strictly a point A to point B machine. But it DID get you there nomatterwhat, and with no mechanical problems...

good luck in your search. i love our mazda5 as a family hauler. SOOOO much more fun to drive than any other "mini"van on the market.

an MT might be hard to find, as they were only offered in the Sport trim for the USDM. the Sport model was offered with a convenience package, however, which added rear spoiler, side skirts, cruise, fog lights, etc. hold out for the right car, and you'll find something.

We found one. It's a 2010 with 32k. It's being shipped as we speak. Carmax is offering me a pretty good deal which ultimately will make my payments drop a little more than 50 bucks a month with the same amount of terms I have left. All in all, it's a good deal. It's a maroon MT and it's got one owner. Clean ride.

It doesn't have the convenience package I don't believe but all the "goodies" don't mean all that much to me. The biggest thing I wanted was the fogs but even still, I can pick up a set on the cheap no problem. It's already got tint from what I saw so one less thing to worry about.

I'll be posting up here again soon enough... lol

I'm sure gonna miss the XR. I loved that truck like no other but when it can't haul me, my wife, and children comfortably... it's gotta go. As I said on the Facebook, no amount of sheet metal is worth more than my family's comfort.

I just made the same move with the GTO.. but I'm not replacing it just yet. Staying in cash operation is fantastic, only debt is the house. lol

Some of my family is giving me s*** for swapping cars so much. Then again, they don't look at a car like I do. As said, this move is for the family in my future (we're adopting kids and looking to have our own). An X-Runner just isn't gonna cut that mustard anytime soon. Even the Mazda5 is gonna be somewhat of a squeeze.

I will say... glad to be back... lol I've missed you guys!

I've already been scouring the interwebz for pics of lowered Mazda5's. I found one white one with some sick wheels, lowered, and thing even had curtains like it was a hearse or about to start a movie in that thing. It had to be someone on here. Wheels were so deep dish, I could've swore I was getting a pepperoni pizza from Chicago.

(whistle)

Ahhh... muchos gracias mein Freund!

Yeah, unlike the MSP, I'm ready to make this thing mine. I love cars that are unique. Unfortunately, a stock Mazda5 isn't very unique. So, some simple mods should fix that. :)

Taking the easy route I see. My inability to leave well enough alone resulted in a "simple" mod too. Doing a complete engine/trans swap on the truck. LOL

Yeah. I just don't have mountains of time to do any crazy modifications and my wife is gonna be driving this part time so it can't be too insane.

Holy crap, I just actually put 2 and 2 together and realized you no longer have the Goat. Interesting. I guess I completely blanked on what you said earlier.

Yeah, selling it I paid down some debts knocking monthly bills down by $600/mo, not to mention it woulda just say for like 2 years. It was just the right move with a little one due next month. If I hadn't gotten a good price for it I'da kept it, but I lost a total 2 grand on it including financing charges. Mods not included.. but we all know that is money down the drain anyway. lol

I fell that the m5's are so weird.

Some times I see one and I'm like "Oh hell yeah!" and other times I just wonder what the hell I am looking at.

Maybe one day I will reach a conclusion.
