---> *EVERYTHING* ECU fix/comments/thoughts

Well guys from what i can tell you all have aready gotten the flash done on your cars. However on 10/6/03 Mazda finally released a TSB so all dealers now have the elusive information. If any one is still having trouble you can now refer to TSB 01-002/03
.

Just got the flash done yesterday, the turbo spools right away, and the powerband is much wider, and lots more to a curve, instaead of it just "kicking in"
the gas mileage does seem to be better as well, i think that might be that now i have to shift alot sooner since the rpms seem to get higher quicker.
just my 2 cents.

I got mine reprogrammed today and it feels really smooth. The power is there. I admit it does seem slower because of the lack of kick. I also think that it smoothed out the torque steer, it is still there but comes on more gradually. So far I am liking the flash.

How can I tell if I need this flash?

What are your complaints about the car? If you have no complaints, then you don't need the flash. Simple as that.

So the question is now, after a week or more of people driving with their cars flashed, are you happy you did it or not? I am more concerned with the perspective of the car being a daily driver than taking it to the track. I am considering getting mine flashed, but would like opinions from others. I plan to up my boost eventually to ~ 9 or 10lbs, but am bone stock right now.

If you had to do it over, would you have gotten the flash or not?

Thanks.
Ben

I have gotten the Flash and do not think it has made much of a noticeable difference. To me it does not feel as it pulls an harder and I still get flat spots. I am planning on upping my boost to about 9 or 10 pounds in the near future as soon as I get my guages installed. I would like to know if maybe I should my PCM changed back in this case. Will I be at a higher risk for detonation with the new flash than with the original settings?

Umm, if you're asking if you should change your ECU back to pre-flash, there is no going back. Once you have it flashed, it's flashed permanently.

after a week i can say if you are a daily driver this is a great fix.
The turbo pre-flash on my car took way too long to spool. especially for the smaller turbo our cars have.
The car feels much more powerfull after the flash for me.
If you want to be upping your boost so bad, then 8-9 should still be significant i would think. If you want to keep your car for awhile, 13 psi might not be the way to go anyways.

I have an appt for Monday at Polar Mazda, White Bear Lake, MN and I will post the results. Hold your breath...

FINALLY! I have an appointment for Monday to get the new update. It'll be interesting to see how much difference there is now that it is getting colder out.

Although, strangely, it's is amazingly warm here for October.

The cold weather changes a lot...I'm now spiking at 8.2 psi thanks to the chill. Must get those colder plugs soon...the car gets jumpier when you throttle off as it gets colder, too. Kind of strange, I know.

ya im getting my car flashed tomorrow and i was wondering how do i tell if they did it or not besides the noticable changes. like if i dont feel the chages did they just not do it or did it just not do what i thought it would do?
Thanks for the help

I got flashed and de-clunked yesterday and I'm very happy with the car. No hesitation, no clunk, no problems with the dealer, Capital Mazda in Cary, NC. They gave me a Lincoln Town Car as a loaner.... what a big fat car.... I drove it for 2 days and when I got back in my MSP, it was like being in a go-cart on steroids.

After re-adjusting to having my car, I did some fun spirited driving to see how it'd react. It's perfect. It handles better and there is no hesitation. It seems just a little peppier as well. It feels more 'ready' somehow. Passing people seems slightly quicker.

I may go to the track tonight to see if there's any real changes. I just went 2 weeks ago and the conditions are similar today.
