Everyones occupation

I am a software engineer for a Weather company in Madison, WI. I do some web stuff (HTML, ASP Javascript) but mainly graphics/network programming for weather imagery on the web in C++.

On a side note, I'm starting on a little 3D game for PocketPCs that I hope will bring some cash my way and get me out of debt and on the right track to Forced Induction :D.

I'm in the Air Force. I work as a crew chief for C-130H model cargo/ transport plane. I'm in charge of the whole plane nose to tail when it's on the ground, I fly on it whenever it goes off station so I travel a lot. I mean a whooole lot.

I'm in the Air Force also, my job is to load, anything from toilet paper to tomahawks on Guvyp5s' and all the other cargo planes in the Air Force and some commercial planes.

occupation eh?

i am a humble lot attendant at the home depot whom i work for a drunken lady who is shorter then me, and a store manager who has an ego trip the size of alaska. but what can i say, i look at bitchin cars all day long and check out all the honies with there daisy dukes and low cut shirts! HELLZ YEAH BIATCH!

i also flip burgers at Culvers near my house as extra money. and they may promote me to manager. yippe do da day.

i am going to school for atuomotive. i want to design the greatest sports car..... what a minute... Mazda has already done that since they are the greatest car company in the world!!!!!

RX-7 BABY!

BTW Big Ben, can i slap ho's with you to sometime?

I used to work for that drunk b**** too. I did shots and got her to sing Elvis with me. Ok, I did ONE shot and let her go all for it so I could watch the ensuing madness sober. Nothing like a chain smoking hammered marine cop-beating beach bum turned retail manager singing Fools Rush In by the King.

I ditched the orange apron to sell drugs. Thats right I'm a assistant store manager for Walgreens now. My clientele goes from greaseball wife beating contractors to hobbling geriatrics on walkers demanding their prescriptions. Cest la vie.

It's feels lilke the first day of school when the teacher asks who you are and what you did this summer. ( Sorry having flashbacks ) (sweaty palms)

OK, I also am in the USAF, I am also a Crew Chief/aircraft mechanic/tire kicker/windcreen washer. I work on the slowest jet fighter/bomber in the inventory(sleep) , but it also holds one of the largest gatling guns ever installed in a jet aircraft. OK,OK I work on the A-10A Thunderbolt 2 (Warthog). Currently in Alaska and on my way to Vegas in a month.

There are 22 Aircraft assigned to this squadron and worth a estimated 75 Million Dollars.

Now where would the world be without our teachers. People s*** on them all the time, but it takes a special kind of person to be able to put up with the BS, and teach.

I think they should pay basketball players what teachers get, and pay teachers what basketball players get. Fair is fair, when you realize how important the job is.

lol.. i agree... cuz i dont care about sports.. unless they are motorsports... but you gotta think about where that could go.... "They should pay nascar drivers what teachers get and teachers what nascar drivers get"... ok.. that was a dumb example.. but what i mean is... yah.. teachers do get jipped... and basketball players get waaaayyyy to much money (in my opinion) but it is all JUST an opinion... and the people whos opinions count decided that basketball players are worth millions of dollards and teachers only a few thousand...

No friggen way, most basket ball players are smarter then most of my teachers.

Everyone should get pay what the market will bare in other words exactly what there getting.

Oh by the way guess who was the highest paid teacher at my HS.

THE BAND TEACHER.
JESUS CHRIST WHATS WRONG WITH PEOPLE.
(chair)

Good teachers get paid more then crappy teachers. If your good you can demand more $$$$. I personaly think the head of the english department deserved that honor. But then again it wouldn't matter since she married the BAND TEACHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Damn that guy pisses me off.

I'm a manager that contracts with the county here in Southern California, Orange County. My staff is in health care to provide oversight or care management of frail elderly Medicaid members.
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who also teaches at a local university in a graduate program.

Wow, I really started a debate about teaching. Thanks to all you who made the nice comments and understand how truly hard it is to teach in today's society. We are underpaid, understaffed, and underappreciated. I won't climb on my soapbox about all that is wrong with the system, but something has to change soon. Most people have no real idea what all we are expected to do.

1st MP3 in NH: You are a first class idiot. (stupid) I teach students like you every day. Most pro-basketball players probably don't have a single degree, let alone a Masters or Ph.D. If they do have a degree, it was often a scholarship gift from some university in Kinesiology or under-water basket weaving. Good regular education teachers get no more or less than bad ones. All states and districts have adopted minimum salary schedules that are followed by everyone. We all get a uniform wage based on our years of experience and college hours/degrees. There is room for some bonuses and special monies, but that's it. Coaches, athletic directors, admins, and some band teachers are on different scales, but, for the rest of us, it is the same-good teacher or bad. As far as what the market will bear, see if your brain can follow this:

TIRED OF THOSE HIGH PAID TEACHERS!

I, for one, am sick and tired of those high paid teachers.
Their hefty salaries are driving up taxes, and they only
work nine or ten months a year!

It's time we put things in perspective and pay them for what
they do baby-sit!

We can get that for less than minimum wage. That's
right.........I would give them $3 dollars an hour and only
the hours they worked, not any of that silly planning time.

That would be $15 a day. Each parent should pay $15 a day
for these teachers to baby-sit their children. Now, how many
do they teach in a day....maybe 75.

Then that's 15 X 75=$1125 a day. But remember they only work
180 days a year!

I'm not going to pay them for any vacations.

Let's see... that's 1125 x 180=$202, 500.00 (Hold on, my
calculator must need batteries!)

What about those special teachers or the ones with Masters
Degrees? Well, we could pay them minimum wage just to be
fair. Let's round it off to $6 an hour. That would be $6
times 5 hours times 75 children times 180 days=$405,000.00
per year. Wait a minute, there is something wrong here!!!

There sure is, huh?

School teachers

My wife teaches kindergarten, and she works between 50 to 60 hours a week, believe it or not.

Most of our friends are teachers (elementary levels) and so is my brother (college), and they all work VERY hard to get the kids to learn something besides dicipline (seems parents don't give a damn anymore).

Never think they are a waste of money, just remember they are teaching your kids, the ones who will take care of your medication some day...

You can't possibly teach a student like me every day, I barely went to class. If you did, it must be nice to have kids that can get high honors without ever coming to class and taking up you time. Sucks when they do and make you like a royal jackass though.

This pretty much describes my teachers.
As far as the other things they did, how about the fact that not 1 teacher through all 12 of my years in public school once took a serious attempt at teacher grammer. This is just pathetic. in 3 different years the pathetic teachers I had passed it off as a group project where each group read a chapter of a grammer book then then they taught the class that lesson. What a POS. ANother teacher actualy told me to shut up becuase she was not willing to explain a particlur peice of the lesson. I higly doubt she could either way, pathetic.

Where did you get that damn under water basket weaving line. The head of the History department always said that stupid s*** too. He was one of the few good teachers I had.

There are teachers that deserve more money, all of my math teacher were excellent although I usualy slept in math. They took time to help those who needed it and were very patient with several morons and after I got 105% on there first test they let me sleep as long as I didn't snore.

This approach was radicly different then the english teachers that felt I had to be awake to discuss what we read in a book the night before. It was obvious that I was hurting there fragile self esteem by sleeping. **** THEM. They deserve to be fired. Two english teachers were notable exception. I only wish half of my teachers were that caliber.

Face it man, only about 25% of teachers in public schools are worth a damn at there jobs. Do they take on other tasks outside of the normal concept of a teacher. Sure they do. Does this make them a good teacher. HELL NO. Being able to accuratly help student learn a subject matter and retain it is what makes a good teacher.

Many people deserve more money according to most people. However few professions are failing as badly as teachers at there jobs. Hell, private buisness owners of Massachussettes had to get together and force the state to administer a basic exam before graduation so the schools would stop passing absolute morons through. I love the fact that 90% of teacher in one distrect failed that test themselves. This is the main reason why so many people want school vouchers, to get there kids away from these creatins.

If you don't like what your paid demand more money or find a district or private school that will pay you more If you can't find one, heres a clue you not worth more money. You can argue it, but if no one will pay you more then your wrong.

By the way don't call me an idiot again!
