Everyones occupation

I'll chime in with my two penny's here. I do agree that pro sports players get paid too much, but that's called supply and demand. There is a very high demand in America for pro sports, and very few people who supply it. Therefore the amounts of money that is split up among those few athletes are very large sums. I agree that most of them are stupid and never actually graduated, but a few are very intelligent and have more than one degree. (Very few). But I also have the same belief for actors and musicians, most of them are completely stupid and ignorant people that don't deserve the lifestyles they live. ie. Jennifer Lopez, Sean Combs, Master P or whatever that dumbass' name is. They are all completely ignorant and have never contributed anything to society to make it better.

On the other hand, I also don't agree with paying teachers large salarys. I went to college with several guys and girls that became teachers. Most of them became teachers because they sucked at everything else. Dont get pissed at my statement, you know it's true. If you really get mad at what I just said, maybe it's because you also suck at everything else and that's all you are cut out to do. Someone has to fill those slots in the human race. Be proud. I will say this, most of the people that are teachers because they arent smart enough to do anything else were women. Yep, I said it.
Now, if you have your masters, I can see being paid a higher amount than normal teachers. But not that much more. Come on, teaching really isn't that technical of a field. The college you go through is very easy. Even the masters programs.
I am an engineering student, and I know that most,(not all) people who became teachers couldn't make it past the simple physics and calculus. And not that bulls*** physics, I'm talking about Engineering Physics and Technical Physics. And please don't come back saying, "I can do anything I set my mine to", sorry but you cant. You need more than memorizational skills to pass engineering courses.
I'm also curious of this. How much exactly do you teachers want? What do you get paid now? I know of one of my teachers in highschool that had about 15 years teaching and she had her masters. She was a very good teacher and I agree she deserved good pay. But still, she is only a teacher, not an engineer, scientist, physicist, etc. Her salary was around $55,000. Do teachers really expect to get paid much over that? Most of the girls that I knew that were going to college to become a teacher were dumb ass sorority girls that were just hoping to marry some frat boy that came from money. So what exactly is it that you expect when you go to college to get a non technical degree and go into a job field that pretty much anyone has enough intelligence to be successful in?

You can't possibly teach a student like me every day, I barely went to class. If you did, it must be nice to have kids that can get high honors without ever coming to class and taking up you time. Sucks when they do and make you like a royal jackass though.

This pretty much describes my teachers.
As far as the other things they did, how about the fact that not 1 teacher through all 12 of my years in public school once took a serious attempt at teacher grammer. This is just pathetic. in 3 different years the pathetic teachers I had passed it off as a group project where each group read a chapter of a grammer book then then they taught the class that lesson. What a POS. ANother teacher actualy told me to shut up becuase she was not willing to explain a particlur peice of the lesson. I higly doubt she could either way, pathetic.

Where did you get that damn under water basket weaving line. The head of the History department always said that stupid s*** too. He was one of the few good teachers I had.

There are teachers that deserve more money, all of my math teacher were excellent although I usualy slept in math. They took time to help those who needed it and were very patient with several morons and after I got 105% on there first test they let me sleep as long as I didn't snore.

This approach was radicly different then the english teachers that felt I had to be awake to discuss what we read in a book the night before. It was obvious that I was hurting there fragile self esteem by sleeping. **** THEM. They deserve to be fired. Two english teachers were notable exception. I only wish half of my teachers were that caliber.

Face it man, only about 25% of teachers in public schools are worth a damn at there jobs. Do they take on other tasks outside of the normal concept of a teacher. Sure they do. Does this make them a good teacher. HELL NO. Being able to accuratly help student learn a subject matter and retain it is what makes a good teacher.

Many people deserve more money according to most people. However few professions are failing as badly as teachers at there jobs. Hell, private buisness owners of Massachussettes had to get together and force the state to administer a basic exam before graduation so the schools would stop passing absolute morons through. I love the fact that 90% of teacher in one distrect failed that test themselves. This is the main reason why so many people want school vouchers, to get there kids away from these creatins.

If you don't like what your paid demand more money or find a district or private school that will pay you more If you can't find one, heres a clue you not worth more money. You can argue it, but if no one will pay you more then your wrong.

By the way don't call me an idiot again!

I think MP3 is an idiot, because my girlfriend goes to school at a Big Ten University and was an athlete. I met her friends 99% of whom were athletes on scholarships for kineselogy, or sports management. lets remember that kinesiology was opened for athletes who couldn't get into college. last time i checked i never saw a basketball/football/ "student athlete" in engineering, premed, or prelaw??? but their all sooo smart. oh, i bet mp3 went to public school too....

Face it man, only about 25% of teachers in public schools are worth a damn at there jobs.
Come on man, isn't that overstating it a little. I would say only about 10% to 15% of public school teachers are worth a damn. The rest are just sorority chics that were too sluty in college to marry guy that came from money. They were the ones that got passed around at the frat partys.

the only people who complain about teachers are stupid people. the kinda people who waste breath, and make my tax dollars go up, because you work for minimum wage...

I agree with you big_ben. one phrase, "engineer's make the world go round" I am a U of M BSME 2000 and working on my master's. lets put it this way, your friend worked 15 years through school to make 55,000$. I made that in 2000 when I came out of school at 22 years old. You probably look at the world the same way I look at it, and that is that i look down upon people who are not engineer's. their just plane stupid. I take that back, anybody outside of math & science. don't get me wrong, their are some dumb ass engineer's, you see it in school, the one's who take dynamics 4 times.... anyways, that was my 2 cents...

I think you are wrong. I believe that the only people who complain about teachers whining for more pay are the people that went to college with them. The people that worked hard in college and saw the education majors easing by with mickey mouse classes are usually pissed when they see teachers getting more money because they know how stupid most(not all) of them are. I for one know how stupid most of them are. They were the ones that took organic gardening in college and got a C. Hell, all you need to know about organic gardening is what color fruits and vegetables are. If these teachers want more pay, they should be submitted to testing. They will get paid based on how much they know and not what they can read out of a book.

Exactly my point.

As for my stament of a athlete being as intelligent as a teacher many are. The assumption that athetes are all morons is simply wrong. A teahcer going to school and getting a degree makes them no more intelligent then anyone else. As Ben pointed out its not hard. Most athetes have the need to seek out a higher education. Why would they they can make millions avioding it. Avioding there sports career to be a teacher would be the dumb choice.

The next person that wants to call me s*** better atleast of some form of information that proves me wrong. I am copletely sick of this board bulls*** where dick smacks log on and simply call people names without ever saying one useful comment to debate.

Its not to hard to say you gay. Why don't you explain your point.

TRUTH:
Most teahcer don't deserve more Money!
Not all athletes are dumb!
A basic teaching degree is not hard to achive!
Most of my teachers were pathetic!
Schools overall are failing in this country!

I'm not wasting any more enegry on this bulls*** topic.

Back on topic

I am a control systems programmer of AMX and Crestron equipment. And I am self Taught.
I am the quality control tester of all media based and most video conferencing based systems.
I am also a systems design engineer.
If needed I aslo do installations.
I work at Tweeter part time doing mobile audio installations becuase I love car audio.

Yep, I just believe if you are not in a technical field, what good are you doing society. None.
But I do believe some teachers deserve more than what they are getting. Maybe 10% of them. That's it. The rest of them are the dumbasses that failed classes in every other major they attempted. So they resorted to teaching. The saying goes like this, "If you aren't good at anything you can always teach".

I hate when people put engineer in whatever you did. did you go to 4 years of engineering school, through calculus 1, 2,3, differential equations, thermodynamics 1,2, heat transfer. do you know about the first and second law of thermodynamics?? your like these stupid network administrators, who took some computer classes at their local community college, and now they think they are a "system's support engineer" you sound like a high powered electronic's repair man. more like it... come talk to me when your on my level.. Try this, everytime i meet people, they ask me what I am, and I say a mechanical engineer, and you know what they do, they take a step back and say "whooh" ive even had doctors say that they more respect for me, because engineering is so much harder than medicine... anyways point taken, don't use engineer until you went through 4 years of work, and can answer my questions??

I know I'm gong to get flamed for this one but I'll go ahead and say it. I also believe that most of the IT fields and programming fields are very easy schools to get through. Put it this way, if it's taught at a "Tech" school, ie. ITT Tech, DeVry, etc. It's not that difficult to get those "2 year" degrees. Those are blue collar schools that teach blue collar skills. The only way you are ever going to make any money and truely contribute to society is to get your real Bachelors Degree or higher from a real school(a university). Otherwise your pay scale will hit a peak before you are 40 years old. Unlike someone like myself who put in the extra effort, by the time I'm 40 and have been in the engineering field for 15 years, I'll be getting paid around $100,000/year whereas a person who got a degree from a 2nd rate school will only be getting paid around $70,000 to $80,000 and they will be topped out. As for me, at around 20 years in the engineering field, I'll be well over six figures, probably around $120,000 to $140,000 and the ITT Tech grad wil still be at $80,000.

Justification For Higher Education!

its sad

you know what else is sad, is that every loves to talk about performance and hooking your car up. I see everybody has passion for the product in this website, why doesn't everybody become an engineer?? I think for people on this page, that would be their dream job, designing this stuff for a living. I love my job, i am an engineer for an auto manufacture, and I calibrate the performance of vehicles, and i absolutely love it, cause what i get to calibrate, you drive. I drive vehicles everyday, 2-3 years away from production. I think this is the greatest job on earth, i don't understand why more people wouldn't want to do this, and the money for a 4 year degree is the best of any. Oh wait, i forgot, because you have to get into engineering school and pass 4 years of classes to get that.

don't use engineer until you went through 4 years of work, and can answer my questions
I completely agree. That too pisses me off. Most of these people with the inferior degrees don't even know what thermodynamics is, not to mention they probably didn't know math went past calculus 1.

audio repair man=system design engineer

garbage man=sanitational engineer

plumber=pipe engineer

bulls***=bulls*** engineer,

i think i will just add engineer to every occupation cause i feel like it.

I do not have an enginnering degree and I agree the title is bulls***. But yes I have been through more then Some community tech classes. Yes I have gone through calc 1 and 2. Yes I know the first 2 laws of thermodynamics. Why you'd bring up something taught in highschool is a bit strange but I know them none the less. I have respect for engineer I was in school for it but life, as it does sometimes took me off that track. The funny thing is almost noone within my industry is actaul an enginer. Basicly becuase a full engineering degree is useless in my field, experience is the valued trait.

To be more exact.
A systems desing engineer is a guy that takes the salesmen and customers description of there problems and eventual goals and they design the system that will accomplish all goal and aviod all problems. The systems as refered to are large venu AV and conferencing systems. No peice of equipment is designed by us at all. We simple make up equipment list a signal flows that will accomplish the customers goals.

I have 5 years of experience in my industry and Make a descent wage. As for the whole amazing I'm an engineer bulls***. Get over it man. Your not ******* special becuase you went to school to be an engineer. Your special if you can take that learned knowledge and do something remarkable with it.

As for me, I could have continued to go for my engineering degree, Electrical by the way, and I may some day return but I still won't think I am some how special becuase other people don't have the disapline to become what I am.

1st MP3 in NH- It is blindly obvious that the educational system failed you in some way or wait, maybe it was your parents, or better yet, you failed yourself. I was wrong to call you an idiot as such a statement does disservice to idiots everywhere. In our culture of blame-throwing, you will soon discover that your inability to assume responsibility for your own short-comings (you admit doing next to nothing to further your own education) will undoubtedly lead to you becoming a drain on society in some fashion. The Lord helps those who help themselves. Typical, whiny teenage philosophy of never wanting to take responsibility for ones own actions. If you didnt learn anything, you didnt work hard enough. We are teachers not saviors. We can lead you to knowledge, but we cant force you to learn anything or to stay awake. I would love to see any real sources you might have corroborating your ascertains of teacher failure in Mass or anywhere. Maybe you slept through the lessons about the difference between fact and opinion or the importance of backing up ascertains with credible sources?

As for you Big-Ben, I am disappointed to hear a fellow Texan talk like that. You are where you are; you are able to do what you do because of a teacher. Plain the simple. You did not grow up in a vacuum. As for being too stupid to do anything else, here are my facts (and I do grant that many people see teaching as an easy out): I have an undergrad degree in Biology/ Chemistry and another in English. I also have a Master of Arts in English and Sociology and a Master of Science in Education. I became a teacher after I was forced to drop out of Med school to raise my child after the loss of my wife. I needed a job that allowed me to care for my son with flexible hours. I also went on to secure computer certifications so I could teach computer classes at the secondary level. Could teachers do a better job..sure, couldnt we all? But dont blame a teacher; blame the system that controls them. We are hamstrung in so many ways and are forced to play disciplinarian, baby-sitter, PARENT, psychologist, social worker, paper-pusher (we drown under all the paperwork), PARENT, special Ed guru, PARENT you name it. Then if there is any time left over we can TRY and teach something to 30 different learning styles and personalities a class period. I feel sorry for anyone who got into teaching thinking it was easy. That bubble gets burst around week 2.
As for engineers, I have great respect for them. My brother is an engineer. However, last time I checked someone had to teach him or her too. At least, our engineers here took on the responsibility to educate themselves as well. Unlike, 1st MP whiner.
We are the ones who will teach your children. If you have no respect for us, neither will they. Guess who loses on that: Your kids. You want to see your kids learn more than you did? Try helping your teachers instead of criticizing them. Try being a parent and taking some responsibility on yourself for the holistic education of your progeny.

Here is my rule of thumb, if I ever see these words used together, the bulls*** bells start going off in my head.

systems & engineer
information & engineer
network & engineer
IT & engineer

If your degree doesn't say aerospace, mechanical, civil, biosystems, chemical, textile, or electrical before the word engineer,.....guess what,.......
YOU ARE NOT AN ENGINEER
