estimate on crash damage

i got an estimate on the damage from my low speed crash (not even fast enough to deploy the airbags) and they said it would be in excess of $5000(!). this is ridiculous, the stupid trailer hitch on the truck i hit was what did all the damage. all i really knew was damaged was the hood, radiator, front bumper, grill and driver side headlight. and the transmission linkage was messed up, so when the shifter was in P it was really in R, and R and N were neutral, and D was still drive.

You know, this is a little scary, but this sounds too familiar to me. Exactly a month after I bought my P5, I rear ended a Tacoma PreRunner. My front driver side hit his rear passenger side. My air bags also did not deploy, but the rear bumper of the Tacoma hit almost halfway up the hood and the exhaust pipe hit my headlights. That just tells you how low my car is compared to the Tacoma. You probably had the same situation. The estimate sounds correct if you live here in the U.S. My car actually cost $6,500 to fix because of the cost of parts. All the parts had to be imported straight from Japan at the time. It might be different now considering it's been here for a year now. My crash was on July 1st. All in all, your accident sounds like mine so the estimate sounds correct. I just hope you didn't get a speeding ticket like I did. Estimate sounds about right, and that sucks!

Man, sorry to hear about your accident.

Bumper replacement, headlight replacement, fog light replacement, slightly bent hood repaired, slightly bent fender repaired and all the painting... for my car it was already approximately $1500+. No internal damage at all... just surface damage.

eh, no speeding ticket, no police involvement as his f250 didnt even get a scratch on the bumper....and i wasnt speeding because my airbags didnt even come out.
