engine swap

The 2.3 hasn't been done because there would be a load of fab involved. Do a little searching - this has been proposed about once a month for the last few years. The only easy swap is the KL, but it still requires ECU, wiring, radiator mounts, power steering work, AC system changes, ect.

Waaay more expensive than a build and a turbo. And if you are willing to spend more than that on 8+ year old econo-box - you need to chekkity check yo'sef'

hey, don't knock the econo s***-box. the look on peoples faces when you pull away from a car worth 5 times as much as your econo s***-box is priceless

^oh noes!

I love my p5 and keeping with a BMW M3 in a sweeping reducing counter-banked radius turn and seeing their face is priceless! :P

BUT sinking a huge bunch of money* in any car this old really is knda' stoopid (IMHO). If totalled or stolen (unless you had a separate assessment and rider on the policy) you only get 'blue book value'. Money all gone. poof.

*even more than a turbo system

but the same goes for a $60-200k car with $20K+ worth of s*** put into it, you still only get bluebook for the car unless the s**** covered. which reminds me. i have USAA which i believe has a plan that covers all aftermarket s***. they covered my pioneer avic d3 when it got stolen anyway, but i need to get that s*** on my policy.
