Engine swap possibilities....

some of you may know my car is getting a lot of prototype parts very soon from TTI racing.... and he was looking at my car for a supercharger possibility.. but it would be too hard and complicated..... turbo is also an easy thing he can do for me but i wanted to set my car away from the typical tuned protege... then the guy from tti had a light go off in his head. ... a Duratech V6 will bolt into our cars EASILY.... 200 hp 190 ld-ft... 40 lbs heavier engine..... VERY VERY CHEAP.... we can also put the KLZE in our cars.... the BP turbo will drop in... and for you radical people a 4.6 v8 will bolt up to out transmission!!!! i can give more detail if you guys want to know....

im pretty sure im gonna get the Duratech with a stand alone... i can get it all for about 2 grand and i dont have to pay labor

its just a matter of how far i want to go with the engine... i could have a supercharged duratech with 300 hp.... which would be nice but i think i will take it in steps

bpt's are really strong engines, the problem is that they are all old and they were built for rallying, so they've been beat to crap.

this duratech idea sounds promising.

i know the kl-ze is from a j-spec mx6, but i do not think it'll fit without some major modifications to the front fender wells, i think its entirely too big, but s***, go for any of them!!!

from what we found out the only major thing we will have to do is make a new engine mount on the timing belt side...

the duratec is in the tourus, soon to be mazda 6, MPV, Tribute.....

they build 1000 per day and parts are very easy to locate and there is a promising aftermarket for them.... and the parts are also interchangeable with the Contour SVT....

Do that s***! If you do, I'm down man. I am looking for a good way to add more power to my car. I am thinking of going with the AEM Engine management System as of now.

The BPT won't just drop in...It'll drop into a first gen easy enough, but not a third gen.

I would go for the KL-ZE, and skip the Ford lump...

Keep us informed!!!

Dude, keep us up to date on this one. I agree, any way you go is going to be a major improvement in power and ft/lb of torque than what you have now.

This brings a whole new meaning to the Zoom-Zoom thing.

stutters just so you know all the V6 engines in mazdas are made by ford... and mazda does all the 4 cyl and inline engine stuff... for does all the v6... and also did you know that the klze was made in ohio and shipped out to japan...:D ... its pretty intersting on what you can find out... the klze is almost the same as the duratech and they have basically the same power and its easier to get power out of the duratech.... the duratech costs over half of what i can get a klze for.... so as of now there is no better choise than the duratech...

The engine sharing really didn't start until recently...the KL-ZE (I thought) was an all Mazda design...

If you are going to go that far with a swap do a FE3 swap man!!!! Look up the engine and you will be happily surprised....NA stock but you can put a turbo on it and it will hold 22 lbs of boost and give you 500 WHP.....screw a V6 lol

i have a hold on the ones that come directly out of the factory in ohio... for a normal person who cant make the mounts a do the computer management this kind of swap will be expensive... im probably going with stand alone but i may also go with a svt computer... the company im doing to prototype parts for is going to help me ... all i have to pay for is parts....

then maybe the klze is a mazda engine but i was told that it was a ford.... and the duratech is a ford engine but its going in the new mazda6 , its in the tribute, mpv

As I have already said I'm very intrested in this motor (Duratec). Where can I look up this motor?, and also will it bolt up to our MP3 stock transmission. I would just like to know in detail what all I will need to do to make it run in my car. Yes I did a search but did not come up with much. I will probably get a stand alone fuel management system, and probably bore, port and polish everything before going on. I would just like to know more bout this car and how hard it would be to make it work. If anybody can tell me. What car did this motor go on? Thanks:p

Possible Swap Engine

I dont know much about that engine your talking about but hey if you wanted to be cool you could do something similar to what SP Engineering did when they made the Supra 7 and you could make a MP3 with the new RX-8 motor. That'd be pretty cool in my book. The engine red lines at 9k something stock. It'd be really expensive but I think it'd be cool

that would be hard to do ... either make the engine transverse or convert my car to RWD which both would be very hard to do...

As far as engine swap possibilities are concerned, I've been thining that the new 4 out of the mazda six would be a good option (other than trying to squeeze in the six cylinder).
