Hello guys, my engine sound like a diesel Jetta engine after driving for 600 miles, some off which was little aggressive. My question is, this diesel type noise normal or not?

Thanks,

Sunny

Are you talking about the turbo whistle or valve tick?

The MZR engine is direct injection and has some similarities to diesel engines so . . .

I believe it is the valve ticking tittle bit louder than normal ticking during cooling the engine in my driveway. Nothing turbo related at idle.

that is the injectors ticking...just like dsm injectors if i am correct

otherwise return your car back to stock so that it doesn't blow

DSM are not direct injected.. Also not very loud on that department either. Unless you are talking about a different DSM than the car group.

should probably check the oil...

The oil was normal meaning between the low and full mark on the dip stick. But just in case, I added half a quart after the drive. When I changed the oil before the trip, I added 5.5 quartz of oil. I do not think it oil related.

Update: the sound still exist. Took the car to Mazda and they said the oil was slightly overfilled and could be due to bad gas. I am beginning to think it is the throw out bearing.

that thing about bad gas sparked my attention. What grade fuel are you putting in? It should always get an min. of 91...the same goes for everything with a turbo. This noise could be engine knock due to poor grade gasoline.
