I have a Mazda Bravo Ute, this has the Mazda fuel injected G6 motor,4cyl, 2.6L, overhead cam.
I cooked the motor going up the range, the head is rooted and can no longer be used as it is 'soft' according to the drop test where they check the hardness. I figure that knowing my luck I would put a new head on the motor and then the rings or bearings would go.
So I plan to yank it out and rebuild to motor, also replace the clutch and throwout bearing at the same time. Again if I didn't then the clutch would die as soon as I put the motor back in, Murphy's Law.
I want to know if anyone has modded the engines for more power....I do believe that this is the same engine as the Mazda MPV.
Are there any performance parts available for these motors? What about new computers or something?
Also I'm in Australia and parts are dear as over here. I have seen a few websites offering full rebuild kits with pistons for like $210, over here it will be more like $800+.
