Engine oil

5w40 rotella t-syn is what i use and my UOA's show good results.

I've used Synthetic Royal Purple in my race cars for years and have always had good results. It is hard to deny the analyses Bova's put up here for us to check out though. The Rotella T-Syn 5w-40 has won me over and I'll be switching to that in about 1,000 miles.

the previous sample that was done on 2/18/09 was amsoil euro 5w40 so you can see the improvement that rotella had on that.

I've used the Shell Rotella 5w40 in several vehicles before, and have had great luck with it. Cheaper than Mobile 1 too

hey what about 5W-30.............my frd told me this one is good for turbo car??

5W-30 is what Mazda initially recommended for this platform (MS6 & MS3). They did this to meet EPA regulations and increase efficiency. However, with 5W-30 these engines tend to produce smoke because of faulty PCV and turbo-seal designs. Mazda has now recommended the use of 5W-40 (a bit thicker) to reduce and eliminate the smoking.

also if you look in the euro/aussie manuals you will see that mazda recommends 5w40 in them.

thankz man......(boom07)

strange the flash point is so low with this oil... but results looks good nonetheless!

it's also interesting to see that not many non-US/Canada DISI turbo owners complain about turbo smoke issues because many other countries but japan uses 5W40 for this engine

also, mazda usa maintains that 5W40 is "temporary" for these cars and once their PCV fix comes out people should go back to 5W30.... I say forget 5W30 and keep on using 5W40 based on the fact that mazda europe always recommended 5W40 for the best engine reliability (they need to do this to ensure product satisfaction from lots of autobahn driving)

so from now on, screw the mazda usa recommendations (which are designed in their interests to satisfy EPA CAFE requirements, NOT us)! I'll follow mazda europe's like I have been with my non-turbo 3 since day 1 (running german castrol 0W30... european non-turbo recommendation is 5W30)... I'll be doing the same with my boosted protege soon as I recently discovered that the european oil recommendation is either 5W30 or 10W40..... so I'll be switching to redline's 5W40 (it's actually better than its 10W40 brother believe it or not) to hopefully reduce the 1qt/3000mi oil consumption (running redline 10W30) problem I have from lots of high speed driving and boosting

the flashpoint for the rotella was 390 and for amsoil 365. and the rotella is greater then what the universal averages are.
