engine noise

[P5 Rally]

my 03 P5 has 30000 km on it and it sounds as though it has a bad knock........perhaps bottom-end related. the motor sounds fudged up....it no longer sounds 'new.' I even hear a clicking noise and I know its not the faint typical sound that camshafts make. I don't have cooling problems or loss of oil pressure. No coloured smoke from the exhaust. I've worked with cars for about 6 years and this doesn't sound normal. Has anyone experienced any problems with their 2.0 motor or are there any TSB's ob these things

lol this might sound weird but check if a cat or squrrel didnt go in ur engine bay (lol2) coz it does happen..

I'm in Edmonton and my 2003 Protege 5 (15,000 kms at present) is already on its 2nd motor!

Take it to the dealership and get them to go over it completely! My car had a bad vibration and grinding noise in 1st gear and 2nd gear at 3000rpm. The dealership discovered that one of the piston pins was creating the noise...blah, blah.....and they were required to replace the short block.

The Mazda is presently for sale! Maybe a WRX next.
