engine is rumbling, almost like a hole in the muffler from the engine though???

my wife's car is making a rumbling sound coming from the engine. i'm not a car guy so i'll just say it like that. it sounds like a car with a hole in the muffler, but the sound is coming from the engine area (manifold???)

we had a lot of snow today and she was in it for a while.

what could cause this sound?

i drove the car and it "feels" fine but does not sound right.

Perhaps you could look under and see any steam/exhaust escaping on cold morning/first start. I would suspect the second cat/pipe interface.

Plug the exhaust pipe with the bottom of your shoe. Does it bog down? If so - no worries. If not - see solution (above).
