Eibach Pro-Kit on '08 MS3, installed

I put these in today. installation was a breeze, the only hiccup was getting the bottom of the front struts out of the pinch bolt area. Ride quality is not degraded at all vs. stock. it's very cold and somewhat icy out today, as you can see from the pics from the snow and the vapors from the idle, so i didn't test the handling too much, more on that later.

i also put the corksport mount insert in and did the PG spin-on filter conversion. the mount insert made the twm shifter and bushings a complete upgrade now...

stance looks good.
they'll prob. settle a lil more and look even better.

thanks for the compliments. tho i actually hope it doesn't go any lower because this is ideal for me with those 18's!

eibachs are block set at the factory so they ideally shouldn't 'settle' to a noticeable degree.

i forget the rates, they are on the springs but i didn't look and i don't have a sheet on them. i can find out for you. the amount of lowering is i'd guess about an inch or so, since i think the MS3 is 10mm lower than the regular 3, and these drop a regular three approx 1.3 inches.

iBoost, i actually am a regional sales rep for Eibach, so i got them in-house from the factory, however i recommend you contact elbartorex on here as he works for JSCspeed, a great source for eibach. he can get you information and a solid solid price.

looks almost identical to the drop I got with my Mazdaspeed springs. Maybe .25 inches lower in the front.

how much where they , plus is it easy putting in the insert i got them yesterday but have'nt trien to put them in yet

do you have any camber issues if so what kit do you run

i actually have yet to check it out in a conclusive manner. i am going to keep an eye on these tires and see what happens with them before decide if i need anything in the area of camber management. the rear looks like it's got a healthy amount of rear negative camber, however, on these FWD, if you are rotating on schedule, you won't see that effect much before the tires are beat anyway from normal use.

forcefed, what, we aren't already e-friends on here? ; )

Swampass- for all i know eibach might have private labeled the MS springs for them. Makes sense considering the whole southern california thing (MUSA HQ, AEM making intakes, etc)

Powerslave, the inserts are super easy, tho i removed more bolts than they suggest to get it in. they say remove the two for the mount, i removed those along with the bolts of the thing that the mount connects to. anyway, super easy install, maybe 10 minutes from start to total finish.

Thats just not fair i also would like to be your new and even better friend than that forcefed fellow

this is interesting. i talked to the factory and i was very surprised at the information.

the front springs are 160lbs, but linear rate, not progressive. the selection of spring is based on the suspension geometry of this car. i am used to honda rates being higher but the geometry is different on those cars, and the rear configuration is totally different vs. a honda. the rear springs are also linear, and are 171lbs. they feel somewhat stiffer than stock yet yield a very comfortable ride, so i am unure of what the stock springs for this car consist of in terms of rate.

do you need someone to get the kit or to install it? if you need the kit, i suggest you contact user elbartorex who works for JSC speed in PA, who is an Eibach warehouse distibutor. They can arrange to have a kit shipped to you.

Those rates are for the Eibach springs? I'd like to find out what the OEM spring rates are.

So with some searching I found this from grassroots:

So far I've found second-hand information that appears pretty solid, but it is internet second hand information.

The intarwebs says:

f=33N/mm (188lbf/in)
r=30N/mm (171lbf/in)

Also I looked up the Tein SS coilovers spring rates and was surprised at how much stiffer they are.
336 lb/in front
392 lb/in rear

Might be a little too stiff for me.

interesting. i think we now know why my ride quality hasn't changed ; )

so basically with the eibachs i have on the ms3, i am lowering the center of gravity with little to lose in terms of ride quality however it seems i'm leaving a little left in the way of potential increase in rates.

here is the scoop with MS3 specific springs and eibach- they passed the idea around internally and the main problem was procuring one for testing. they figured that for such a low production run car, if they were going to have to chase around a test car too, it's just not worth it!

i think it IS worth it....so i'm going to put a feeler out on their behalf while i talk to my contacts over there further about this. tho i'm very pleased with what i have, if i can get an optimized set with increased rates and even greater performance, i'm in!
