I just think their targeted market is males age 18-mid 30s. i dont think buckleing up a baby is a big concern to someone that wants a "sports car". the MS3 just looks like a lowered SUV now.....they should of gone the whole nine yards with the car....

While Mazda may have had those ages in mind for the intial release of the 3, I think they now realize their new crop of Mazdas appeal to a much wider demographic. I've seen everyone from teenagers to grandparents driving 3's, 5's and CX-7's.

Each car really has something for everyone: performance, practicality, quality and zoom-zoom(first) .

My dealer sent me an email saying that they expected to have their first one next week. Anyone wanna buy my MSP?

MS3 is indeed King

So much so that I should receive mine mid-October. After hemming and hawing, good thing I procrastinated about buying the Mazda3! Just last week, I almost bought the GTI, but none of the dealers had the one I wanted and they didn't care to order me one. Glad I didn't push the issue... (first)

soon to pass on the VW Passat

For your info, and no I'm not mad, I am 20 years(!) past your demographic estimate.
I LOVE my 3 HB. I love driving her spiritedly too. And if I didn't have other responsibilities to consider, would be putting my money down on an MS3... in a heartbeat (of America. (rlaugh) )
Leaving enough to replace THOSE WHEELS!!!

no, msp wasnt. i thought the ms3 would be though. i hate that about my msp.

i think some of the red ones in the publicity photos (early ones anyway) had a sunroof but i guess its like the msp where the black test mule had one but they never offered it on the production car.

Bad news near me...my local dealer in Middletown, NY said they won;t be seeing any MS3s till late-October, early-November.

I'm gonna get a second opinion from a dealer in Danbury, CT also.

Has anyone else called any dealers for specifics on availability?

yes, my local dealers in va beach are also telling me near thanksgiving as well......

Man the suspense.

I know this car would beat my brothers 2004 VW GTI, but what about a 2006 Audi A3? My own family is my competition. =)

For kick i went by mazda corp yesterday, liek 2 minutes from work. Its also a locatiosn when defect warranty problems or soem other stuff happens car coem there and are stripped. there are toms of mx-5 ms6 peoples daily cars and what not. BUt there were 2 cars with dealer plates or they actually said DST. But there was a red ms3 and a grey ms3 i called my bro he said there are no grey form the website. But it did have a ms3 badge on it. I might go back with the camera and take pics. There is like hundres of cars there. I even found the mp3 prottype car there once also. BUt might cal a friend who works int he marketing and races rx8 for mazdaspeed and see what news.

did you type that on a cell phone?

the grey one was used in the sport compact car test, on newsstands now. I assume by mazda corp you mean in irvine.

Sorry to drag up the topic. But frankly im just pissed at mazda for making the MS3 a 5 door. Im sorry but you cant have a "hot hatch" unless its a 3 door. Im sure yall have seen the photoshops of it being 3 door........it looks bad ass! but with 5 doors its just crap. they should of stayed true to the 323 roots and made it a 3 door. then again i drive a BG 323.........maybe im held up in the past. Or maybe mazda was just being stupid, just like the rx-8 door design. i love mazda but they make some dumb ass choices in style

I am so happy they did not make it as a three door nor offer a three door in the US market anymore. But then again I hate all three door hatchbacks, two door coupes & sedans without reservation. Actually, I hate four door sedans too.

I am a former hatchback guy myself, and I actually like the fact that the Mazdaspeed 3 is in the 5 door format. As a daily driver, I prefer hatchbacks (true sportscars- coupes and roadsters as fun weekend cars), but since the market has been producing fast 4 door sedans, I've been buying them as daily drivers (04 STI and now 06 MS6). This is definitely car I am gonna be looking into when my lease ends on the MS6. However, rumor has it that the STI is gonna be a hatchback/coupe, so if that holds true I'll be back to Subaru. Still though, the thought of a car with the power of my MS6, more of a fun factor, better handling, and faster with 400+ lbs less weight for that price may be too tempting. :)

I totally agree. A 5 door hatch is much more pleasing to the eye and just plain practical for everyday use and this one is gorgeous. I have my Speed3 reserved at the deal and it's slated for a production date of October 9th and be in my hands a couple weeks after. The price is more than fair and realisticly there is nothing else out there that offers more value for the dollar. Man I'm gonna loose some sleep waiting for this one.

^^^ except for the m3, those are more track cars you can drive on the street. also, they're sport compact car and their target audience probably isn't looking at anything over $40k for a car. that said, it sounds like a great car, but i've never been sold on the look of the 3 wagon. but that works in it's favor because it helps with the sleeper factor.
Hatch!

Okay...it's a 5-door, so MAAAAYYYYBBEEEE it's a wagon.

How's it gonna feel to get smoked by a guy driving a wagon?

Are you my double? I also almost pulled the trigger on a GTI...

And now have a deposit on a Mazdaspeed3.
