Or just say "**** it" and give up. I mean, after all it is just a Mazda Protege... If you wanted something fast, choose a different platform.. I mean, why spend a couple of hundred dollars on a MAZDA PROTEGE? I don't know what could possible be worse... I mean, perhaps, spending THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of dollars on a Mazda Protege...

I seriously hope you're joking. A ford festiva can be fast with mods

In the meantime ill be grabbing popcorn and watching the post war that's coming

he was making fun of himself, look at his mod list. more than the car is worth.

the OP should just bring his car to an exhaust shop that doesnt suck and have them wrap the cast DP so it doesnt cook the oil line/water neck and then properly connect the DP to the rest of the exhaust.

or throw away and start from scratch as mp5t stated

I had a custom 3" DP with flex fabricated for $400 which after how much is spent on this DP and J pipe seems like a great deal. I understand trying something new but as soon as the price outweighs the gains you have to know when to give up.

uhhh sometimes when trying things you endup failing, but in failing is where we learn. Failing is not pretty most of the time it can be pretty gruesome so let me just grit my teeth get this thing done so i can move on...

I completely understand and I'm definitely giving you credit for trying something new that could've given many others another option, I would just hate to see you spend even more money on something that may or maynot work out. The DP that was fabricated for me is a great piece and very strong and all I was saying is that for the price your going to end up paying to make this work you can probably get a nice piece. Either way, good luck with your plans.

Chiqles, it's your car man. Do with it what you want. Remember, this is an internet forum. It's not a big deal if some one doesn't like what you're doing or thinks you should do it differently. It's not their car and they have no vested interest in your car. If you want to make this work, THEN MAKE IT WORK! You're the one who's going to be driving it, not the naysayers.

off subject beckarnely exhuast gasket manifold 2 or 3 layer? the one i got is 2 is that right

no!
stop being a cheap ass... people are giving you s*** about that disgusting excuse of a downpipe because you were a cheap ass and went to a vato loco muffler shop

had you taken your time, researched on the correct pipes and exhaust shop you needed, you could've gotten all the necessary materials you needed online, then have it done properly at a shop like I did... brian's s*** and my "pea shooter" J pipe is perfect because we both taken our time to figure out what we needed, how we wanted it, where to get it done, and have it done right

one more advice before I go back lurking again... your ******* manifold is leaking because it is warped... even if it wasn't it is now because you didn't properly reinstall it
you must replace ALL the nuts, bolts, and studs with brand new OEM mazda ones... you must torque exactly to those specs in my sticky thread in that exact pattern twice or you'll be calling the leaky stock manifold bad and the stock bolts bad like many ignoramuses here... you do it right, it doesn't leak... I spent 30-45 mins (because each bolt is a b**** to get to using a torque wrench) each time on each MSP I torqued these manifolds on and they never ever leaked... they never ever had leakage problems for many thousands of miles... was it worth my time? you damned right it was... oh and those MSPs I worked on all had warped manifolds because they either ****** it up themselves or mazda did... all had to be run through a belt sander to make them flat again

can't find the tool you need to fit a torque wrench in there? go to a motor cycle shop, figure it out!
buy the mazda gasket! buy new bolts!

I think CHIQLES should make the pic of that downpipe his new Avatar...

Seriously, pull the chute man. Buy a Corksport pipe, or use the stock one.

thanks guys, bolts where stripped from way back I just finished them off this last go round.I got my gasket from a store the dealer sent me to before. I did replace all the studs got my copper nuts ready. If we dont know its okay. Yes the pipe is junk I under stand but im 20 bucks away from being done so why the hell would i order Another down pipe. I know you guys are all pro mazda guys your the gurus i give you props for all your hard work and dedication. This post is about the edelbrock yes it fits barely. You guys just got to see the fk up of the j pipe. I fixed thoughs threads by the way so I will be good there. I did not use hilicoils before i get bashed on that. And i took pictures on how i fixed thoughs to. Because I know im not the only one with a leak.

Every one I've purchased has been a 2-layer gasket.

Chiqles, if I were in your area, I'd have you come down to the shop and we'd spend some time and make this thing right, but alas, you're 1,000 miles away.

none of this is making you look better

i'm a big believe in DIY and finding ways to do it cheap (heck, yesterday i installed my pyrometer gauge with JBWELD!, getting welded soon though)
so i understand where you coming from...but this? never...this is s***..you are 20$ away from finishing? highly doubt it...and if so,..then i'm guessing that bad ass downpipe is staying like that.
what saddens me is not that you did it..i could care less if you wanted to do it or not....what saddens me is that you did it to an MSP....i am seriously pissed at the poor bad job you did on it...but had it been a honda..i would've been like "looks great" and walked away.

put the stock s-pipe back on and stop making up excuses not to accept the fact that this project is just not something you are prepared to deal with.

and the ones that are pushing you to do it are just laughing at you cuz i guarantee you, after what you did NOBODY WOULD EVER ATTEMPT THIS.

my 0.02 cents.

sorry if i am a bit harsh...but no mazdaspeed should ever have to go through this...EVER

So do you guys remember like... the second post when I said,

"It Looks Like It Is Facing The Wrong Way"

Do you all understand what I was saying now?

apparently not!

the fact that you chimed in to even point that out should make the OP grateful.
you have one..if not THE sickest protege5...
you've done it all and as far as i heard, undid it all not to long ago to "clean it" lol

so..by the OP not listening to you proves how much of an idiot he is...
