ECU Re-Flash, "chip"... what is it really

I'm wondering if they'll provide a "Stage 1+ tune" that would be CAI+TP+BPV. That would be a pretty popular one IMO.

Reading more on their site, they don't have tunes for those without cats, only the catted DP and/or turboback exhaust for stage 2, as they don't wanna promote degrading the environment. Also, our cars need a small amount of back pressure for the seals to sit correctly from what I read.

One other question with the AP, can you have it set up for a VTA BOV? Another thing I've been interested in is switching from the Forge BPV to the Tial 50mm BOV. Oh, and an anti-lag setup would be sweet too.

1. You need at least a new downpipe to run stage 2 tbe maps

2. I've heard and agree that we don't need backpressure cause we're boosted. NA cars require a bit of backpressure.

3. Having run stock bpv, bov, hybrid, and bov as bpv.... bov just runs lousy. unfortunately, to my knowledge, cobb hasn't released a map pulling fuel at shifts like the cp-e standback can do. I was in denial thinking my bov made my car run fine, nevermind the idle backfires and popping. I say get something like the greddy s, rs, or hks ssq and just run it in recirculation mode. they are still plenty loud and your car runs like stock. I find the whistle sounds carry better in recirc than the air whooshing sounds, so def go greddy s or hks if you want to be noticed.

2-5th gear wot stock ecu

Before I had the AP, I'd have to shift the car around 5500rpm because the power just fell on its face due to the throttle plate closing and low boost (8-9psi).

2-4th gear wot cobb ap

Now that the accessport is installed, the throttle is wide open and the car is boosting 14-15psi past 6500rpm. Much more power under the curve to play with (drive2)

What map are you running?? Stage 1 + intake??

I'm merely throwing ideas out. I heard they are taking suggestions for maps and tuning, so those are my ideas. In regards to back pressure, I was always under the assumption that no BP = good, but now I think a small (read: minimal) amount might just be right. Simply a catted DP will do it. There are gains to removing some of it, but not all.

As for the BPV/BOV setup, it's simply wishful thinking. The Forge has been good to me so far, but for a new sound, I'd switch it up if I knew it wasn't gonna pop and backfire and make my car sound like a 1982 Buick.

I'm testing out stage 2 and doing some data logging at the moment even though my only exhaust modification is one deleted cat. I believe the only difference between stage 1 and stage 2 is increased boost to take advantage of the increased exhaust flow.

However it's not recommended by Cobb to go stage 2 unless you have turbo back exhaust and either stock intake or cobb sri.

Here is a link to Cobb's map databse:

yeah and thats tuned for 91 octane gas. i'll be running 93 octane and hopefully soon they'll have 93 octane maps.

Nice. Ive read where stage1 and stage 1+ is a 60-69 ft/lb increase in torque :) I wonder about HP

and that is only 91 octane. i run 93 octane and hopefully they will be coming out with a 93 octane map soon. can't wait til this evening.

Cobb AP

So you guys are saying that Cobb has on the market now the AP for the MS6? Can we get it from Cobb or somewhere else?

You can buy an ms3 accessport from anywhere and update the firmware to use it on the ms6.

Or you can wait until the 15th and buy the ms6 accessport from Cobb.

disregard last post. my fault for not paying attention. any ideas as to if they will put out maps for 3071r

results of Stage1+ map (i have cobb sf intake, corksport cbe, and 1g dsm bpv): definately can feel it holding power in the upper RPM range now. can't wait for the 93 octane tune. Holding boost all the way as well.
