ECU location

Jubba

MP3-147
I did a quick search but could not find it.

does anyone have a pic of where the ECU is located on the MP3?
or can point me to a thread if there is one?

thanks.

I am doing a engine swap, and need to know if the ECU needs to be swapped or what?

it should be on the passengers side floorboard towards the firewall, under the carpet of course. i think the also are under a little metal plate to protect it from being stepped on all the time.

Thanks. So if they are doing a engine swap, then the ECU will stay the same.

What differences are in the 2.0 dohc engine for the MP3 to a normal 2.0 dohc protege engine?

I am seeing if there will be any difference in performance.

also this engine is imported from japan is there any differences in that?

Thanks for the help.

i think you can use either ecu but i would wait for some more opinions before you take my opinion on the matter.

The Jspec engine is completely different. Different cams, pistons, compression ratio, intake and exhuast manifolds. It has 170 ps which is about 162hp. It also uses an OBD-I where as your mp3 uses OBD-II. Technically you could use your stock ecu, but the power is in the OBD I.

NM did a search found the answer..

How would I know what the engine is? how would I know they just didnt throw some other engine in it or something.

How can I tell what it is?

It has Mazda DOHC 16 Valve written on the valve cover, buts thats all I can tell the difference is.
