Anybody here using an Eclipse HU? If so what model do you have? (pics) How much & where did you get it. Where there any fitment issues? What do you think of it?

all other info is appreciated :D

Install. It was kind of a b****. I don't see why they make you cutout your ashtray and cig lighter... Damn thing still doesn't even fit right. look at all that mucked up plastic.

Realistically. there's notmuchfor fitment issues to speak. If you're using the kit that's just a one-din pocket (not the cross braced MSP or mp3 one) then you mighthave probs with the sleeve's "tangs" not reaching far enough forward. It's dealable with. just takes an extra 5min. Mine's last year's model. the new one's are a bit spiffier finish-wise. (the catalog pics make them look nasty ugly for some reason, but they realyl do look good) Butyea I sell alot of them. you have any particular questions?

DON'T buy an Eclipse!! They are garbage!! (gossip) Just get a Kole or Boss tape player. (thumb)

Aaaaa....it had to be done man sorry.

I have the second from the top 2005 model (8445) proudly on display for any would be theaf to rip out of my dash. But, one need not worry because with the ESN, the deck is just a box full of metal and plastic parts cause I locked it out which means that I am the only one who can use it.

I am telling you this because if you are going to invest in an Eclipse head unit, it is worth buying it from an Eclipse authorized dealer for this very feature alone.

What is your budget? I believe the 5425 can be had for under $300. It will get you 5v preouts and mp3. What else do you need/want?

There are no fitment issues, but why would there be? Not sure what you mean by this question.

Oh, yea umm. CD8454. Last year's top of the line. I Really like it. My only gripe isthat the volume level is very adjsutable, but not very rapidly. it takes a couple seconds of spinnin the knob just right in order to get the volume up or down... I think the new ones respond a bit faster, though. Price, umm, I think I paid close to 5 bills for it. At the time I had the money, didn't work at a shop and was NOT disappointed. As far as where to get. Gotta go to a local dealer. They're pretty anti-ebay. Eitherway its' worth it. 3yr warrenty, 1yr theft replacement.

Like Fox said, I'd look pretty closely at the 5425. AWESOME solid no frills unit. We sell them for $230. The only things it realyl lacks over the next model up which is about a bill more expensive is switchable colors, remote and built in aux-in (you have to buy a $15 plug if you want a line-in)

I had the 5435 for a few weeks before I went to the 8v. Over the 5425 you get 5 color illumination (see pics), WMA playback and someting else too....Eclipse's website has a comparison chart for reference. My gripe on the 05 models is that the right knob that allows you to fine tune your settings and advances your stations and cd track is way too sensitive...especially if you have agressive suspension and drive on bad roads.

When compared to it directly, the factory lighting is almost like an orange-red and the Eclipse is more of a pink red. I personally don't think either are true red colors. Having said that, I still have mine on red because the differences are not so drastic that it catches your eye right away. The Eclipse colors are not very natural looking and are too bright IMO. The 8454 had just the amount of red in it for me and looked better against the stock colors. I'm more about the class I guess and less about the bling!

BUT I did not buy the deck for it's looks as much as for its sq and features. In this sense I think that Eclipse made a mistake in R&D and should have spent the money on getting some of the 8v model features down to the 5v models. The decks are still awesome and I have no intention of buying another brand in the future unless I go F#1 status or very high end like Nak or Denon - which aint happening any time soon.:)

I'd love to get a Nak...but for the price I could get a Clarion/Eclipse/Pioneer/Alpine that has a built-in EQ. The display on my Clarion DRX9575rz really bothers me...It's way too bright at night and I would rather have a simple back-lit LCD that matches the factory coloring.
