Ebay Intake

Ebay Injen clone. I stole the sticker from a friend that ordered the real injen.

What is that cylinder in front of the intake?

Do any of these intakes give a HP or torque bump? The sound is cool and call but I'm looking to gain more power out of this little engine if possible and not have to put in a turbo.

Do you perhaps remeber the eBay company/ seller. I've been looking all over for an injen cold air clone but no luck. All they have is short ram air.

Nope, dont remember. I'll look around for you.

Thats an OBX header. I did a crap wrapping job. I bought the wrap after I had installed the header. :(

he had to move the coolant container for the intake to fit

correct. all you have to do is remove the two 10(12?)mm bolts that hold the overflow container to the fender, flip it around and move it to one of the other mounting points towards the front of the car.

I just went with the shiny can because I got a good deal on it.

short answer - No

long answer - each engine mod/bolt on is a piece to the puzzle with our cars. No one mod is the "holy graile" other than the MP3 ECU, so, each mod alone won't do wonders, but, combine multiple, and you've got yourself something

Thank you! I've had my MP5 for about 6 months and keep thinking about selling it as I want something a bit faster but every time I'm about to sell it my kids beg/plead/cry as they love "little red" so I'll have to keep it for a bit. Plus I promised my wife I'd keep this car for at least another year. Looking to get some more HP out of it, but it seemed similiar to my NA/1.6L miata's in that you can spend a small fortune on little hp bumps that do not equate to that much or go the FI route. Seems like the little HP bumps equate to about 20hp and close or over $1000?

sounds about right. These cars, without going forced induction, just don't make the power

But, throw some nice springs/struts and a rear sway bar, and the thing LOVES the corners!

If you HAVE to have more power and straight line speed, i'd look into something else if you don't wanna deal with boost, or a KL v6 swap

Thanks for the info again. Sorry to hijack this thread, but great information.

I'm planning on getting back into autocross and will be adding new rims/tires but springs have been a difficult issue to research with these as most of the springs seem to lower the car a bit to much for my preference. I'll probably go with Racing Beat and some light 16" rims with Falken Azenis tires. Put some winter tires on my ugly stock chrome wheels.

Though for how cheap the ebay intake is, might just go iwth it and see if I feel any difference as these cars really just need about an extra 20-30hp.

If you're going to get back into Autox, check to see what mods put you in what class.

But, for daily street driving, the best bang for the buck mods are

MP3 ECU-also remove VTCS from the intake mani
intake
header
highflow catted midpipe
catback exhaust

You WILL notice a nice gain with those mods. Won't make teh car fast, but, does make it more fun to drive

Only problem with modding the midpipe, i think that bumps you up another class on Auto-x

I got this one on ebay last year. It was a Canadian company, I can't recall the name. It cost around 60.00 and so far it looks perfect. I figure I'll just replace the cone with a K&N when it gets dirty. I did get a shifter from ebay at the same time and that thing sucked. I had to modify it to fit and eventually it fell apart. So.. you win some , you lose some.

Have you got the intake yet. Just wondering how the fit and is. Easy to install. I`m contemplating getting a cheap eBay intake too.
