ebay crossed drilled slotted rotors

DRT Rotors
Ok. Here we go. I cheated and paid some one to install them so I wont be posting a how to.(since we have some already anywho) I love the way they look. Major improvement from the bad stock rotors I had. For $138 shipped for 4 rotors its a steal. Now Fedex played kickball with my box. Had one of the rotors chip from the box been so badly handled. Not a big deal. I drove around after been installed and it made noise but after 10 minutes that went away. Now after 2 days of them been on I went to clean my MP5. And thats when I saw something that made me sad. RUST. Yep they do rust. BUT its a layer that quickly goes away after 1 minute of driving. So then I was 96.87% happy again. Over all I like them.
1-10 scale. 10 been good.
Price 9.5
Looks 8
performance 7
Fitment 10
Quality 6

Over all I say if you are in a budget but want something thats going to be better than stock and looks nice, go get some DRT. would I get them again, maybe not. I would pay the extra $80 for Brembos. But if I was in a tight budget I would get them again.

Got'em off ebay about Feb of 2004, 60k miles ago & still going. IIRC, saw another set for just a bit more (225 shipped?)about 6 months ago before finding some others for 145 shipped that I actually bought to replace the ones on there now whenever they decide to give up. I think they are gripforce or something like that, zinc coated c/s also. But, here ya go, lookadis..............http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Mazd...001QQitemZ110155668153QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

How about these, they even come with ceramic pads..........http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/MAZD...006QQitemZ160143615033QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Only the 1st ones are Brembo and they are $250 shipped. Thats the one I was talking about. $80 more and you can get Brembos. I like my DRT. For $138 shipped not bad.

Was there rust on the hub and outer edge, or just the part that makes contact with the pad?

'Cause the pad will rub off the zinc coating, but then again it'll rub off the rust as well. I'm more concerned with rust on the hub and outer edge.

Please, do tell...

No the powder coated section is perfect. No rust at all (the hub and outer edge are powder coated silver). There was some o the rotor where the pad rubs but the pad cleared is out once I started to drive. It looks good.

My Review on DRT's

im going to keep this short and simple. I paid $146 shipped for a complete set of 4 rotors that are slotted and drilled. I bought the ones painted black. I love them. the only thing i dont like is after it rains, they are covered in rust, but after driving a couple blocks it wears off. My opinion is if you are tired of those crappy stock rusty rotors and want something that looks better and performs a little better without spending a arm n leg, get the DRT's.

Get back with us after 65k & let us know how they're holding up. IMO the Brembo/Hawks are worth the extra coin for the mileage, performance & non warpage I've gotten. Just like the budget ss brake lines that last like 8-10 months before leaking from daily driving & no autox aren't worth the 30 dollars saved vs. some goodridge or russell ss lines. Less money usually equals less something else, like longevity. I'll spend a little more to NOT have to work on the car as often. Imagine how much labor costs add up for folks not doing their own work from having to have it done more often. The car hardly ever demands attention at convenient moments either. I know about budget constaints so I understand the need for budget parts to get by on too but I don't have to & as always, right for one person or situation is not always right for another. There's the long story for ya......party on.

I guess my assumption is that it has to be at least OEM quality, maybe better.

I need brake pads (badly), and the dealership told me they wanted to turn my rotors (huge labor cost)... so I figure for less money, I can get something that looks totally sweet, and performs about the same, if not better.

That's where I'm at.

r1 was saying that a lot of the rotors are machined by the same company anyway... so that makes me think that these rotors have to hold up pretty well. time will tell.

r1 said they machine other company's rotors, but cannot say who. so it might be brembo...it might be drt....

You are right, they are better than stock plus they look good. Maybe you 2 guys could go R1 and we will have 2 DRT and 2 R1 reviews.

I'm kinda leaning towards the DRT black or silver powdercoated ones. Not sure exactly which way I'll go.

For some reason, I tend to believe that the powdercoating will resist rust better than zinc coating. Tough call...

Me too. Like I said before my box was all broken and one of the rotors was chipped. I can see that the coating is thick. Go with the DRT.

Cool. I do believe I will. If for no other reason than I've heard 2 positive reviews, and really don't know anything about the r1 rotors.

well, I mean other than what the guy selling them has said :) jay/kay.
