Ebay CAI

Make sure you figure out installation procedures first before installing it... they don't come with instructions. It's pretty much straight-forward though... you'll be very satisfied!

By the way, when someone gets a K&N filter, let me know where and how much...

i doubt this one will be hard.. now the Injen i had for my 00 Celica GT-S.. that was a pain in the ass.. So many hoses to connect and stuff to relocate.. my dad helped me with it, he's an ASE certified master tech, and it still took us two hours.

Then my car ran like s*** in the cold and at anything below 3.5K rpm.. checked everything and couldn't figure it out.. Called Injen and tried to get some help and they ignored me.. My car was taken into my dad's work and the high performance tech there looked at it and did something and found out that the MAF was barely reading any airflow until nearly 4K RPM because of poor design for any low RPM driving at all.
That's why I'm not on the greatest terms with Injen. Not cause their product, but because I didn't get ANY customer support. Not even bad.

(yippy)it's like a race to see who get's their ghetto-intake the fastest!

am i the only one who has a tracking # right now? Mine's coming monday, i'm glad to see that my 18 dollars for shipping was put to good use in the ground shipping from CA... it better be packed really well for that price. I don't have to work after school on monday, so I'll go out and get a K&N and report back on the size... Now for the length, I think i'm just gonna go with one that is as long as the one that comes with the eBay intake...

hmm I just had an idea.. we should get decals made that say "eBay Intake" on them and slap them on the intakes.

I got my tracking number, but it doesn't say when it'll be delivered.. As for the sticker.. how about this..

Hey I might be a little late but I got my K&N air filter from AJUSA.com for $29.39 with free shipping.

Here's the link: http://www.ajusa.com/cgi-bin/knfilters/details?part_num=33-2134&model_name=2002%20MAZDA%20Protege%202.0L%20L4%20F/I

I did some hunting and this seems to be the best price. It fits the 2002 Protege 2.0L engine (which, oddly is the same 2.0L engine from 1999-2003... go figure).

Happy hunting!

Link works for me. Could be that the server went down. Thanks for that link. It makes shopping quite a bit easier. :)

EDIT: I envy you being from Asheville.. I just drove through there last weekend and I love the mountains. Can't wait to move to SC. :D

Yeah, Asheville's a great place to visit. Not so bad to live if you're independently wealthy. Everyone should come drive the Blue Ridge Parkway, tho'. Talk about an incredible ride! As for the link for the air filter, I'm happy to help. I spent a little while hunting the best deal and I don't think anyone beats $29.39 including shipping (believe me, I really looked).

Link works now for me... it was coming up bad earlier. Thanks for the find! I hope you all enjoy your ebay CAI's like I am now!

Just saw the website... is that for an round filter or drop in? Doesn't give specifics so I was curious... and what size tubing?

there is a chart that u can find all the info u need under universal filters. Dont search by vehicle cause u will just get the drop in filter.

woo i just checked my tracking number and mine should be here monday! :D

high 30's next week.. dunno if i'll be installing it as soon as I get it but maybe. I'm going to have a day where I just install a whole bunch of stuff since I have like five things coming in the mail. :)

Don't be scared of a lil cold! I installed mine in the freezing cold... lol. And the other day my hands almost fell off when I installed new fog light bulbs! I'm one crazy Puerto Rican!

haha mynd I know you said something about the 18 bucks to ship it earlier.. Well on the UPS data it says six lbs is the package weight. I ordered an Ichibahn Pro series shift knob which weighs .68 lbs and shipping was $7.80. Not gonna complain though cause it was only 22 bucks, whereas I could only find it elsewhere for 40+.

It's not really the cold I'm worried about.. if it's an easy install I can do it and run inside to get warm.. It's the fact that right now being shipped to me are
Ebay CAI
Juje racing shift/brake boots
TWM 2nd gen short shifter
Kartboy shifter bushings
Ichibahn shift knob
And I'm going to want to do them ALL as soon as they get here, ya know? I put a nice $200 dent in my wallet all thanks to the gov't giving me my money back. :D

next on the list is springs. :D

Nice hunting. That's really cheap from what have seen so far.

Alright, the intake came today at about 10:00. I was still asleep so my sister brought it in the house for me. It looks like a nice design but one thing is present that I'm going to have to alter.. Right inside the tube where the fitting for the hose has been drilled the metal wasn't cleaned up, so I think I'm going to get a dremel or something and clean that out of there. I wouldn't want that getting inside my engine!

As for the filter, it doesn't really look like it's bad quality at all. Matches the color of my car almost perfectly too.. I think I MIGHT just go ahead and use it, but first I think I'm going to get out the shop vac and test how well it actually filters air. I hope to be installing the intake today but it's a bit chilly outside. Ah, oh well I probably will.. :D

Yeah, that's the drawback... the metal shavings are still on it. Let us know how the quality of the filter turns out, cause I'm looking into a K&N soon.

QUESTION TO EVERYONE: When you bought it, did it come with the little rubber piece on the small hole for that little connector thingie? Mine didn't come with it, but luckily i had my SRI that I took it off from.
