Ebay CAI

Oh wow, thanks Man. Looks like this is going to be my next purchase. This can be converted to a short ram though right? I'm looking at the pics, and i want to say yes, but i always doubt myself, so i'd rather want another persons word.

Yup. Disconnect the secondary piping and attach filter after MAF sensor.
does anyone know where the blue rubber fittings for the intake pipes can be purchased in other colors (i'm thinkin red to match the strut tower brace? Also, how did you guys clean out your intakes... just a wet rag on the inside or something? I noticed that the fitting for that crankcase vent tube looks terrible on the inside, I might have to take a file to it. Tomorrow after I get home from work I'm gonna attempt the install, I hope it isn't that bad.

I have SRI myself.
But I want to ask, why would you want to have a SRI over a CAI?

I prefer CAI.... Makes the engine look a lot cleaner also.

As for the shavings on the inside, I recommend EVERYONE who gets an Ebay CAI go and file out those metal shavings. They can cause damage to your engine if you leave them and they get sucked in.

I'm happy everyone is satisfied with their ebay CAI's! I was one of the first pioneers to try it out and it's good to see that you all are buying them!

Well, we get rain here in Philly, but not crazy monsoons or stuff like that... just rain. I think I'm safe then...

wow, good find... thanks! you just saved me a few bucks. Shall I paypal you, let's say, $0.25?

No real reason why, but just that the SRI you can hear more, which i want. I'm probably gonna have it a cold air for a while though, and just make it short ram during some rainy days.

Can you really hear the SRI more? When I had a Mustang it wasn't really that noticeable.. My brother put one on my grandma's Dodge Shadow too and you can hear it, but my CAI is MUCH more prominent and has a cooler sound to boot.

Well, my other friends Protege, you can hear his injen better when it's Short Ram, compared to when it's Cold-air. IDK if it's only certain cars that do this, but i think since the filter is out of the wheel well sorta, you can hear it more. I think? (dunno)

Oh, and probably one of the hardest parts about putting on the CAI is getting in there and putting the filter on. I ended up taking half of my bumper off to do so.. So if you're going to do that every time it rains then I believe it'd become more of a chore than anything..

Another question for those of you who have the CAI, how to you remove the bolt under the coolant bottle that hold it in place? What tool did you use?
There is so little space to put any tool there and the bolt is so tight.

I used a 6 7/8" long 3/8" drive ratchet and I think it was a 14mm socket. Just pull up on the coolant bottle and it will come off of that gold part. Takes a bit of force though. I had to use one of the half twist 90 degree bend brackets to remount the bottle. That gold piece in my '03 looks different than the pictures online.. I couldn't get it to fit.. so I just refitted it.. I'll get pics when my camera gets back from the shop.

Thanks Man!
I have a SRI. I am thinking of connecting a dryer machine type of duct to the filter through the hole under the coolant bottle and goes down to the space where the CAI filter suppose to be. Just like another P5 owner on this forum has done.
