Eaton S/C

I took a couple of pics with an M90 from a GM L67 next to an FS intake manifold. The height the width would make a good fit, but it's too long. The M62 is a bit shorter, so that'd work better.

There are a variety of M62 input and output configurations. Having the output on top like the t-bird it nice for air-air intercooling. The output on the bottom, like pictured, a liquid-air intercooler would have to be sandwiched in between and there's not much space for that. Intercooling isn't necessary at low boost, but low boost gets old quick, so it's nice to be prepared

in the second pic on the intake, that little valve/door thing is that the vtcs or whatever its called, what would need to be put infront of the intake of the s/c????

Big News!!!!!!!!

BIG NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i got an email today:

"THE MANIFOLD COST $1500 JUST TO MAKE IT. IT IS VERY EXPENSIVE TO WELD THEM UP. IF YOU CAN GET FIVE PEOPLE TO PLACE A $500 DEPOSIT, I WILL BUILD FIVE COMPLETE KITS FOR $2700 EACH"

that was from mr.knight!!!!!

MORE INFO IN OTHER S/c thread

Cool concept - but before you can start group buys you'll need to obtain AV status. PM Antione for more info.

That's the throttle body. You'd need to make an adapter plate for that or do some drilling and tapping.

kableguy PM'd about this proposed GB...Interesting project...It's not the first time someone has inquired about supercharging a Pro :D

Before we proceed with any AV status or GB...My main concern is this Thomas Knight guy...I'm aware of his less than spotless reputation...I would like to get more feedback from the members on TK before setting up this GB.

Thanks!

fair enough my friend!

i have just received more info from TK and i misunderstood him about the "let one test" idea, he wants to know that 5 people are on board and then ship it to me, let me test it and sort out the kinks b4 it is sold to the other 4 but like everyone has said before this WONT happen here because of his bad reputation so im gona have to fig somin out but for now ill at least give everyone as MUCH info as i possibly can!!!

latest reply:

MY STOCK 94 PROBE SE MADE 95 WHEEL HP STOCK. AT 6 PSI WITH HEADERS AND EXHAUST I MADE 164 WHEEL HP. I WILL SEE IF I CAN DIG UP THE DYNO SHEET.
I HAVE BEEN BUILDING EATON SUPERCHARGERS SINCE 1990. I AM ONE OF ONLY A FEW THAT UNDERSTAND HOW AND WHY YOU PORT THEM AND RAISE THE THERMAL EFFICIENCY FROM 58% TO JUST AT 70%. IT TAKES NEARLY TWO DAYS OF MACHINING ON A BRIDGEPORT ANDF THEN HAND PORTING TO ACCOMPLISH THE WORK. I REPLACE ALL THE BEARINGS AT THYE SAME TIME. COMPARE IT TO BUILDING A RACE ENGINE USING A SEASONED BLOCK. ALL NEW BEARINGS, RINGS, ETC, WITH A FULLY BUILT ENGINE COST MORE THAN A FACTORY REPLACEMENT THAT IS NEW. I CAN USE NEW SUPERCHARGERS AND THE COST GOES UP $1100 PER KIT--THEY CAN CHOOSE WHICH ONE THEY WANT. RAISING THE EFFICIENCY MAKES COOLER AIR COME FROM THE EATON, TAKES LESS HP TO TURN IT, AND ALLOWS A BUILT ENGINE TO MAKE 30-50 MORE HP AT THE SAME BOOST LEVEL. HAVE THE WORRIERS LOOK INTO RACE PORTING EATON UNITS AND MAYBE THEY WILL UNDERSTAND WHY WE DO IT TO ALL OUR KITS. THAT IS WHY MY KITS MAKE MORE HP THAN ANY OTHER KITS OUT THERE--NOT EVEN A CLOSE SECOND. HOW ABOUT 278 WHEEL HP FROM A BONE STOCK KL-V6 PGT @ 7 PSI? THE BEST TURBO KITS MADE 255 WHEEL HP ON THE KL V6. ONE CUSTOMER WITH A FULLY BUILT FS MADE 365 WHEEL HP @ 18 PSI WITH ALCOHOL INJECTION.

well looks like i might be s*** outa luck cuz kt is basically doing this as a favor and said he really doesn't care if people buy this kit because he's so busy right now and 5 people would be required, last thing im trying to see is if he will build me a one off during a slower time in the year for more $$$. this sux i was so happy when the light came through the clouds and cast that s/c shadow on my p5!!!

Way To go bud!!!

any advice from what you see? is this all true???
For one, not mentioning any inlet work is a bit concerning. Although porting the outlet yeilds the most dramatic gains, so I can understand not letting all the tricks out of the bag.

For similar cars with the same engines running a roots supercharger making more power at the wheels than one with a turbo, is more an issue of tuning and flow. The adiobatic efficiency of a centrifugal supercharger is far better than even a ported roots. A "turbo" is simply a turbine driven centrifugal supercharger. The losses from the turbine impeding the exhaust flow is less than the losses from driving the roots supercharger. Throwing around peak HP numbers is not how to sell roots superchargers. Explaining the benefits of a nice long flat torque curve is. Seeing how he throws around HP numbers bothers me A LOT. Although, I can see how someone in the business would get driven to do that based on what the customer wants to hear.

Also, the Gen5 Eaton had extensive redesign of the inlet and outlet over the Gen3. Consequently, gains from porting are not as dramatic. If efficiency is a concern, look into a twin screw supercharger like Whipple: no spool time like a roots, with top end similar to a centrifugal.

Getting the supercharger to bolt on is not a big challenge. Programming an ECU to work with the bypass and tuning will be the tricky part. Will the kit include tuning and full bypass functionality?

*shudders* evil WOMP memories haunt me....

Good luck though. I hope this can finally be done. (thumb)

it would still be on if i could get 5 people but it wont happen on this site, no one will commit without a test model which i get, but if your interested tell your friends rjs_p5

for the longest time i've been wanting to throw on a s/c on my p5... its an automatic tho, hope that's ok.. i will def spread the word around.. how much is it??

You're testing it first???

2700 and i cant test it till i get 5 people willing to buy

any reviews on the s/c??? what's the output of power?? i was thinking around 4 thou... 2700 sounds good, im willing... just find me some reviews on how everything worked out.. :D Hope this is worth the $$$...

Peace,
RJ

runs at 5psi and there are no reviews its never been put on a protege, but its been on other very similar engines like the 626 2L. the kit will work but i cant test it till i get 5 people cuz Thomas knight is just gona make the 5kits other then this thread the kit does not exist. hp its hard to say but around 200 give or take 10 either way, can be alot more you just have to do the internals
