Easier way to Remove door trim

Instead of buying that 3M adhesive remover, save your money and use a hair dryer. I just took a hairdryer and moved it back and forth slowly over the trim, so it didnt sit too long in one spot. Then I focused on heating a certain corner . Then once the corner started to come up .. I gently pulled the trim back til I could get the hair dryer behind it to follow my pull and .... it just came right off... a little wipe off of the dirt and 5 more pieces later I was done. It took me maybe 40 minutes to take all the pieces off and I didnt have to buy anything. If by some chance you get too impatient and break the 3M tape away from the trim.. then just heat it up again and pull it off..... and any excess gunk left over can be taken off with a little car wash and some elbow grease :) No but seriously... its not as complicated as the other thread made it seem. So I hope this helps, and if anyone has any questions let me know.

(2thumbs) nice man!!! Iwould like to do this mod but i would like to see how it looks can u post some pics??thanks

only reason they use the 3m remover stuff is becuz it gets rid of the sticky stuff no elbow greese and the can is only like 3 dollars if ya cant afford that then yeah sure use a heat gun or a blow dryer that works to if you dont mine putting that elbow grease right into it ;)

I unfortunately cant show you, cause I dont have a camera... but if you want to see what it looks like... take a look at a MSP... thats where I got the idea to take them off in the first place. :D

Ryan:. its not that I cant afford it :) I just didnt want to put that chemical on my car... but I guess both ways has its disadvantages...

yeah :), i wasn't saying ur way was easier or harder, just saying that it works bother ways. your way you really dont have to wash your car afterwards but with that 3m adhesive remover id say you need wash well after who knows whast in that stuff that could affect your paint.

I took the moldings off my P5 three days after i bought the car. I also used a hairdryer.Looks alot cleaner and smoother.Check the link below for a pic.

yeah, nice. It looks so much cleaner...And if anyone really didnt like it ... im sure they could put it right back on...
