I just want to say a few things. for me buying my mazdaspeed 6 was about being different and because I loved the look of it and have been a Mazda fan through the years. I didn't want what everyone else had like the evo/sti's/srt-4/ss and to me price didn't matter when it came down to it. ever since the speed6 came out it was the car I wanted over all others.
now both parties in this little discussion make great points.
onelsono stated that the speed3/6 can usually only put a good 300-350 fully built . I can also say that the evo can produce a high 11 to a low 12 second car with just a good tune,intake,downpipe and exhaust. these 4 mods can easily get you 350-400 whp on the evo. but without the tune which is the most important thing there is no way of reaching these results because it ups the boost safely to around 23-25 lbs of boost. and for under $5000 I would say that's cheap horsepower for an evo. dragtimes.com will show it doesn't take a lot to make a evo very fast. I have spent close to $5000 already and my car isn't nearly as fast as all of these other cars I am sure...but I can also say I am very happy with my car knowing I don't see one every 5 minutes like I do evo's and sti's.
onelsone if I were you instead of complaining that the mazdaspeed's "don't make power" why don't you figure out how they can? instead of being like everyone else why not be the one to make it as fast as the rest instead of putting the cars down. people have invested countless time and money into making an evo/sti faster but not many people know much about the mazdaspeeds nor have they invested a lot of time into making it a beast yet. sure it might require you to spend more money then the other..but in my eyes it would be worth it because you would be the first.right now mark at su is one of those people who are putting a lot of time an effort into the speed6 and I give him a lot of props for that because he is working hard on making it even faster.

coyfish is right when he says you really cant compare the speeds to the evo and the sti's which arent even in the same class of cars. these 2 rally cars are meant for the sole purpose of going fast vs the speeds which have a mix of luxuary and sportiness.
in the end onelsone....there will always be someone faster and for me i would rather be driving my speed6 above all other cars because it looks so much better then the rest of the cars under $40,000

I will agree with you on the looks thing. I would have taken an evo over the ms6 if we had them up here in canadaland.

Intake, TBE, FMIC, Meth, Cams and tune will net you around or over 400whp

lol thats how everyone talks in my city haha but no theres no stock off the shelf speed 3 running 13.5 1/4mile BONE STOCK there is speed6s running 13.5-13.9 stock...im not bashing the 3 because one my gf has one and 2 i love the car...but i do believe a speed3 would walk on a speed6 on a roll stock for stock

Yes I've seen videos of the MS6 stock running 13.5-13.6's. The MS6 is quicker than the MS3 in the 1/4mile. From a roll, it's just a different story. But I'd say the MS3 is only about 1 1/2 to 2 cars quicker from a roll.
But I've also seen videos of a Intake, Bov, MM, drag radial MS3 pull some 13.0-13.1sec 1/4mile times at 106-107mph. Which is pretty damn impressive. far as trap speeds go. The best trap speed a MS6 will get with a heck of a good driver will be 101-102mph. Same as for the MS3 will only get 103-104mph traps. MS3 has a higher trap speed but lower E.T.

yea with all-seasons u should be alright. But with the stock summer radials its a hole mother story.
Truth. The stock Potenzas suck in anything but dry roads. I drove from Washington to Texas back in April and I hit a snow storm in Colorado. I had balding Potenzas on the car and I was sliding all over the place the entire way through the mountains. I have never feared for my car and myself more than I did that day...
we live in canada... all seasons dont come close to doing the trick.. winter has barely hit where i live yet, no more than 5cm of snow and it melts within two days... but the next three months will be hell, thankfully i just found what should be a cheap set of 17" rims and i have 17"winters lined up at $125/tire
