Does anyone have a DYNO test of a stock MSP, If not I am going to get one before we start to modify. I went to my tuner today and this was the first one he saw, he had all kinds of good ideas and can't wait to get started. He said buy the time we are done with it it will be one BADA$$ car.

147.4 HP and 159.2 lbs TQ to the wheels. Stock except for K&N cone filter. That was at about 4K miles. Pulls were in 3rd gear at 6500K...Later,

In this months modified magazine, it has a baseline of 146 hp and 151 ft/lbs of tq..

what all things did he have in mind...

you should test your car. everyone's dyno is a little different due to temp/humidity, yadda yadda. plus you will get a more "true" reading of what each mod can do.

wow.. according to the dyno in modified mag, the power drops off at 5500 rpm.. and totally DIED at 6000... at redline,, the power is like,, not even there...

He was just going all out to begin with first he is calling mAZDA AND CHEcking on the compression to see what he can do. First he is putting a boost gaauge in and fuel pressure gauge. Then he is contacting some one in Cali about an injen intake. I am no smart man when it comes to cars he said that copper piece coming from the turbo is why you are getting lag about 4500 RPM and he can fix that easily he said that turbo will work through out the whole range. Also said I should get an Apex turbo timer because he can actually adjust the fuel flow with that. Now don't quote me on that I am an idiot and will be the first to admit it.
As for the exaust he iss checking into it because some of them are not worth it he has a friend at Greedy is going to talk with him. I am telling you he got a boner when going over my car, sais that in two months I will be blowing away thatSRT-4evenin the straights.
He him self has a honda civic he races at Bradington and is doing high twelves in the 1/4. He said this car is going to be a big sleeper. hE WORKS FOR LIBERTY ONE AUTO Naples Florida and really knoiws his s***

He is also trying to mfind a turbo timer with a plug in but if that does not work he can work around that

He also said to wait for the turbo upgrade because you want to go with the big names in that because I asked him that right away. Said we can do lots of other thing before that

187 WHP / 194 torque couple months ago.
Will be doing anothe dyno in 3 weeks with new mods.

He said is the part that lets the blow off out and says that it is letting to much out he said that with the apex he can acually tune it to let off what he wants and is why he is calling Mazda to see what it can actually handle he said that is why there is a lag at 4000-4500RPM says that should go away right away now I am a rookie so could be wrong but he is going to let me help him and learn a little

he actually had a turbo in his shop and showed me that the copper piece has a rod going to the back of the turbo and when that reaches a certain PSI it blows it out he can acually tune in the car with the Apex. He also said that that part is about $600.00 so it is not cheap.

an Apex, SAFC , or Boost Controller ?

Hm, he might be onto something about letting out too much boost at the 4K range, but there is also some fuel map issues and all sorta other things floating on the board..

That's one to add to the books. So what is he going to do? Replace that copper tubbing coming from the turbo to the recirculation valve w/ ?

Yes and I am not sure what his plan is yet he has calls in to everyone. He called me just now and said he has a manual coming right from Mazda. Also said all that plastic tubing inside the engine is also loosing boost.he said that he is prefabing all new parts out of metal so you will loose no boost that way. Then he said with the manual from mazda he is going to actually make the plug in for the apex and they are going to pay him for he is doing there reaserch and development. I can not wait

I asked him about exaust because I see alot of people on here putting exausts on there cars and I wanted to do that myself. He Said to wait Greddy is almost dne with theres and he said it would be worth the wait no other will compare. Please noone get mad at me I do not want to piss(piss) anyone off. I have said many time I am no genius when it come to this. I think all your Mazdaspeed are Beautiful no matter what.

I LOVE MY MAZDASPEED

I LOVE EVERYONES MAZDASPEED

The "copper piece" you are refering to is called a wastegate. Its job is to stay closed while the turbo is spooling up to built boost. When the wastegate "sees" that max boost has been reached, then it opens up to let extra pressure go around (instead of through) the turbo into the exhaust. This is to keep too much boost from building up and damaging the engine. The Apexi device you are refering to is a boost controller which controls the wastegate and tells it what pressure (or boost level) to open at. Hope that helps clear up some confusion.

Does he know for sure that Greddy is making an exhaust for the msp? Or did he say somthing like "Greddy makes exhausts for almost every car and they should have one for the msp out anytime"? The reason I ask is cause I have heard that, because out cars a limited production, many of the major aftermarket companies are staying away from the msp.
