i dynoed the car today in a dyno-jet, the guy who dynoed it did not pull 4th gear instead he did the pull on third gear. i think our cars pulls harder on 4th gear than in third gear, a friend of mine have the same mods that i have and he put down close to 300whp and like 310 tq. i put down 265whp and 275 tq.
i'm going to look for another dyno that does a 4th gear pull. what do you guys think? my mods ms cai, corksport dp- ms catback, hhks bov and rear mm.
 
3rd can sometimes still be a little boost limited so I would def do 4th. I see a little more boost in 4th gear on my gauge so I can pretty much confirm that it's true. It's also closer to a 1:1 ratio which is what you want for a dyno.

What mods does your buddy have that put down close to 300whp?

he has same mods i have plus a upgrade intercooler, not fmic. mine was dynoed at fynetune in miami , i know my car its close to 280 whp, at least it feels like it.
 
Sweet, i pretty much have the same mods as you. If you get a mid pipe you should be able to get some extra power for pretty cheap.
 
We dyno'd mine in 3rd, 4th, then 5th gear. We then went 5th, 4th, 3rd. Overall the difference was maybe +/- 10hp or 10tq either way. In 3rd it made more hp, in 5th it made more tq. So overall not that big of a difference.

I can't comment on what your hp/tq should be as my CEL was on and cutting a lot of power by adding additional fuel (yes, much richer than the A/F was stock). One more "fix" along with a race pipe & hi-flow cat and then I'll head back to the dyno.
 
yes u r right there is a huge difference between dynoing in 3rd gear nad 4th gear i saw about a 30-40 WHP difference on a dyno dynamics which is known to be a heartbreaking dyno as it is.....3rd i dyno'd 223 hp/ 220 tq and 4th i dyno'd 260 hp/ 270 tq.....

Interesting that it wasn't much of a difference when we ran through all the gears, twice. :confused:
 
nah man definite difference I spike 13 in 3rd gear and hole lik2 10 i would never try to dyno off that gear....

3rd is crazy for any 6speed car ! the gears are not even close to 1:1.
5th is actuallt the closest to 1:1 but most shops dont like to use that high of a gear. plus it is not a great idea to load up a turbo car in a high gear from low RPM. 3rd is actually boost limited too. my boost comes in wayyyyy slower in 3rd compared to 4th and up. stick with 4th gear dynos for sure.
 
The operator can just dial in the correction factor for the given gear...that means they should basically be able to run it in whatever gear they want (3rd, 4th, 5th, etc.)
 
I'd rather just have it ran in 4th and call it a day, too much technical s*** with the correction factors, etc..

My point was that I ran it in 3rd, 4th, and 5th and it was within 10hp plus or minus in each gear. So based on fact (dyno) it wasn't that far off between the 3 gears. But I'm sure everyone may have different experiences.
 
yea i almost freaked out like i know the dyno is known for dyno'ing extremely low....because my friends stock evo dyno'd 216 whp /204 tq.....but i was still expecting higher numbers than those....we were trying 2 find boost leaks and everything then i was like lets just try 4th and he was like ok.....because w/ my mods other people r seeing 300 whp of course on optimistic or accurate dynojets (whichever u prefer).....(BTW power mods r: Cpe standback set to 19 psi, cp-e tbe, atp FMIC, cobb sri intake)
