Dyno day this week!

ask the guy to tell you the duty cycle of the injectors when you go to the dyno!
 
Well I got a call with the results, a little disappointed but the turbo was running out if efficiency so he only brought the boost to 16psi. Made 288whp and 248wtq.
 
Say what?? Out of it's efficiency at 16psi... as in causing detonation or not making more power by upping boost?? Any idea of your egt's??
 
i just looked at the CFM requirements and the compressor map, and hes definitely right. the 2.1L didnt help you on that front. still, 288 is a little low at 16psi... i would have guessed 305-310 or so. what type of dyno?

at 90%VE, 2.1bar, 2.1L at 6500 his motor requires 32lb/m airflow... 2860RS even in the larger AR operates at 34-35lb/m max (at 60%) for that PSI. upping the boost just makes it worse from there.

oh well, GT3076R swap time! (EDIT: i lied, 76R only comes on t3 inlet. 71R is good for ~30psi though)

He said at 20psi by redline the boost was dropping off to 13 psi so he just brought down the boost to 16. I'm not sure what kind of dyno, I'll let you guys know on Monday.

So I picked up my car, some bad news but mainly good news! First the bad, it actually made 280.8 hp not 288, I heard him wrong over the phone. The good news is that it is a dyno dynamics dyno, which after some reading I found out that they dyno about 15-20% less than a Dynojet which puts me right around 330 whp on a dynoject :D. Can't wait for summer so I can see what she's like!


EDIT: Just a comparison, on the bulletin board at the shop there was dyno from a full bolt on stage 2 srt-4 neon and it made 248 whp

so wait the gt28rs isnt good to 350 horsepower as the ATP website says? or is it just the conversion from crank to wheel im missing?
 
the CFM is technicaly good to 350. hes above the displacement for that turbo though, so it makes goofy things happen. id expect you could get around 350 with a 1.8L, especially
 
boooo, i was hopin it was WHP, oh well, itll make my msp a sock evo/sti spanker with more supporting mods in due time =]. p.s. nice build, i hope to hit these numbers real soon with the gt28 soon.
 
Kirk, had a feeling that turbo would hold you up a bit. :( you'll have plenty of headroom on those injectors. Run the stock FPR without the solenoid, just run the vac line right to it. Set the HALTECH up for sequential, and if you start running out of headroom, try changing the injector phase timing first without upping boost or injector time and see where it gets you before you change anything else. The stock FPR is rising rate, so your fuel curve will be parabolic, not linear.

Ok I'll have to look into that, the car is parked at my parents for now but in the spring I'll change it.

Ps where are you having it tuned? That guy in red deer?

Ya it's called Vex Performance in Red Deer, Ryan is the guys name, he's one of the only certified Haltech tuners in Alberta as far as I know.
 
did you end up asking the guy what the fuel pressure and duty cycle % the injectors were running when you made the pulls? sounds like a beast congrats! you must be very happy!

I'm sorry I forgot to ask, I'm getting some street tuning done from him in the spring, I'll see if I can find out then! And ya it's pretty nuts thanks!
 
well it seems you ran pretty rich, 10ish AFR you lose some power, stay around 11.3-11.7 you will gain some.
