Dynamic Stability Control on Mazda 5

Hello Everyone!

I am looking to get a 2nd car for my growing family. I am normally a Toyota person, but I have a friend who has persistently been talking highly of Mazda for the past 15 years. I have it down to a Sienna and Mazda 5. I like the smaller 5. I think it'll have enough room for 2 adults and 2 kids.

Anyway, I want to pick up a used Mazda 5. My weife didn't grow up driving in the snow like I did, so the Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) is a must.

Does anyone know what year DSC became a standard feature on the Mazda 5?

How can I verify if a 5 has DSC if I am out on a test drive?

Thanks, and I am looking forward to joining the Mazda owners community!

I believe 2010 - google is your friend :-)

2010 is the only year the first gen has it and its on all models. An easy way to identify a 2010 model is they have no turn signal repeaters on the front quarters. The DSC button is located on top of the dash, center, near the clock/hazard buttons. 2012-15 models all have it and the button is near the drivers left knee.

I have a 2012 and I never realized it has something called 'dynamic stability control', I thought it just had 'traction control' to prevent wheel spin on accelerating. However, it all makes sense now that I think about my attempts this past winter to get the car to slide around snowy corners - I figured out that I couldn't do it if the traction control was on, but I didn't clue in that it was a more advanced system than I thought.
