Dunlop SP Sport Signature

2008 Mazda3 S GT Sedan
Hello everyone,

I am picking up my Mazda 3 S GT this Thurs. I placed an order for some Dunlop SP Sport Signature (205/50 VR-17) after reading some positive reviews on tirerack and elsewhere. I was looking at a performance tire that will also be somewhat decent in the winter. I don't want to change tires during the winter. We get a good amount of snow here in Michigan and I read the the factory Goodyears are horrible in the snow.

Is the Signature a good choice?

Also, my vehicle will have about 500 miles on it (dealer trade 350 miles away plus test drive miles). The stock Goodyears sell for $188 a tire. What would be a good trade-in value on those tires at Discount Tire?

Thanks everyone and have a Happy New Year!

Damien

Thanks. That kinda sucks, but I guess it's less hassle and quicker than trying to sell them to someone else given the odd size.

Do you know anything about the Dunlops that I ordered?

Edit, they are all seasons. They look like summer tires from the pics......

I hav Dunlop Graspic's on my MS3 now and they do just OK in the snow and there straight winter/snow tires. If I were you living in MI I would get a set of snow's.

Well thanks for the advice. I kneew a winter tire/summer tire would be the best but the stockers are just crap and I can't swing buying two new sets of tires. The Signatures are going on this Friday (about $590 installed before stock trade in).

I'll let you know how they do. I finally get to pick up my car Thursday night. First Mazda ever for me. Can't wait.

Well got the tires installed this past Saturday. $580 installed out the door w/ road hazard warranty. They ride a lot nicer than the $200 stockers (much smoother). Also , we got a lot of rain right now in Grand Rapids. These tires are shedding water like nobody's business. I love them so far. Haven't tested them yet in snow. I'll let you know how that goes this weekend. :p Gotta love MI weather!

Got some freezing rain and then snow last night. Kinda got dumped on. First indication is that these tires are not too bad in the snow. My apt complex was not plowed too well this morning and I was able to pull out no problem after clearing the inches of snow off my car.

Roads were all salted and pretty clear though. I'll have to wait until they have packed snow to see how well these tires really do in the snow. So far, so good.
