Duke lacrosse players exonerated

Where the hell is Jesse and Al right now. Funny how everyone jumped on these guys and called them racist hate mongers, and now that the truth is out, no one is around to say sorry. Hell, they forced the head coach to leave the program because of this crap. The Durham Herald (I know this because Durham is about 15 minutes away from me) Has YET to make any kind of apology, or even admit that these guys are innocent. That "Newspaper" has attacked these guys from day 1, and won't even admit to their "error in judgement."

sorry to rant but this case is one of a few going on in our state that is going in this manner. I'm not even gonna throw in my "race card"...

All I'm saying is, there would be a LOT of countersuits following this new turn in the case. They could get the girl, Nifong, Duke, The "rainbow squadron", all of them...but they aren't, according to the press statement earlier today.

There shouldn't be any race card in the matter...PERIOD. Fact is these innocent men were wrongly accused of a crime they did not do. This type of stuff happens EVERYDAY and to different types of people. Some situations get national coverage......others don't! It is a good thing they were able to get these charges dismissed and have there names cleared.

I've always thought there should be some kind of punishment (little jail time) for those who falsly accuse someone of ****, because even if they are exonnerated there names will still be tainted for a while.

" Evans said at a news conference where the men and their families were greeted by prolonged applause. "

Is it me or did these kids still hire a stripper and are getting applauded by their community?

This kids, although possibly subjected to more scrutiny seeing as the case was so racially charged, still would not have been in the position they were if they just didnt put themselves in that position.

ALthough the stripper might have pulled the **** card on them, I still think that there is reprehensibility on their part for at least the fact that they put themselves in that situation.

As atheltes at a university such as Duke,, the kids should have known that their actions would be highly scrutinized and observed. They should have known better.

SOO in summation:

the kids shouldnt have put themselves in this position, however there are still many things which we dont know about this case. We talked at length about this case in my Torts class here at ONU law and all the media frenzied reports and CNN stories dont accurately depict what may have happened in the case.

the kids parents (Not to mention, DUKE!) held weight no doubt, and put significant pressure upon the state trying the case. These kids might well have been guilty, of what who knows, but my main point is that although "exonerated" from the cahrges, they still, in my opinion, participated in "rebrehensible" activity -- which i think was adequately rectified seeming the turmoil and headache they had to go through.

Name one college where kids don't do s*** like that though. It's commonplace. You're not at home (in most cases), young, and stupid. I was there about 6 years ago. I did stupid stuff, that I would never try now. I agree with you, in that they *shouldn't* have hired strippers and drank (for those under18/21). But It was nothing different than what I saw numerous times in college.....except for the cracked out stripper crying ****.....That I never saw.

"participated in "rebrehensible" activity"

As reprehensible as strippers may be, it is still a LEGAL activity. If the media and the public at large were able to punish (fire, kick out of school, etc) without a trial all people guilty of activity we personally found reprehensible, there would not exist a working, educated, or free man or woman alive.

The fact is they are guilty of nothing making any punishment unjust. period.

As for the comment that they should have been acting as if people were watching their every move...that's really an unfair standard and certainly one you could not live to. Imagine your every second of every day being reviewed in the public domain. How long until you do something that someone out there finds reprehensible?
