Dropping with Eibach

Hello everyone. We'll I've been doing a lot of reading on these forums and have finally decided that I'm going to be sticking with one of the Eibach kits to lower my P5. Since I use this car for my everyday driving I don't want to drop it too much, so I think I'm going to stick with the Pro kit. Correct me if I'm wrong, but these provide up to a 1.5" drop, right?

My question is: do I stick with the same drop all around or should I look at dropping the front and back at different rates?

Also, since this will be my first time dropping my car, will I have to worry about bottoming out/scraping at this drop rate?

Thanks in advance for any feedback or suggestions. Also, if anyone using these kits could post some pics of your rides, it be good so I could see what I'm gonna be looking at. Thanks again!

not unless ur rolling over huge speed bumps. -=\
just remember anytimeu alter your suspension.. a shockreplacement is going to be needed sooneror later -=P
when you go over speedbumps if u dont feel comfortable go over at and angle. and come out of driveways at an angle.. and most of all. enjoy your new drop.

With the eibach kit you really don't have to worry about scraping and maintains the stock camber, if it's off, it's not by much. You will notice the ride is a little more firm, I personally like it, but alot of people complain and get the teins. I love the way my car handles, it scares the s*** out of my friends when i give them rides.

this maybe true with stock wheels..however with my 18z and my h&r drop.. also 1.5 tore up the inside of my tires because of my camber. -=( so now im going back to my stock 16z.. cus tires are cheaper. -=P

LoL. Guam's roads are getting better, but potholes are damn everywhere! I don't wanna be like the rest of those guys that I see swerving all over the road just to avoid little bumps. Dropping your car too much here can be hella costly considering our road conditions.

BTW, thanks again for the quick responses.

I will eventually need to get a pro-kit... I'm just reluctant to since I'll have my ae lip on too... :( guess I'll have to be really careful

What bout the drop rate for front and rear? Is it a steady drop all around, or should I stick with different rates for front and back to offset weight imbalance?

i donno about the kit your getting.
i have the h&r springs. 1.5 all the way around.. about 30,000 miles.. now i have blown shocks.. -=\. welcome to the world of imports.

It's not just imports! I put new KYB struts in with my lowering springs on my GTP. The struts where shot within 15k miles. It's important to get struts designed to work with the drop. I love the Koni's.

GuamGirL - I dropped a Civic last Tuesday. 1 3/4" in the front and 1 1/4" in the rear. I wanted to drop the rear 1 1/2" so that the car wouldn't be raked so much, but the 1 1/4" was adequate. Actually, it might've looked better with more of a drop in the front. On most cars, the wheel gap up front is more severe than the rear. So, before you drop it, check what the gap looks like when a person is in the driver's seat. If you like how the car sits, drop it evenly. If you feel the front is sitting too high relative to the rear. Drop the front a little more than you would the rear.

Honestly, by the way you make the road conditions in Guam sound, I'd go for a ride in various other cars that have been dropped and see how much of an inconvenience it is to avoid every pothole. Afterwards, you might want to reconsider altering your ride height. Watch out for snakes, too. j/k

I just put on my Pro Kit about 3 weeks ago. I'm a little disappointed that the front still has a noticeable gap compared to the rear, but overall I am very pleased. Pretty damn stiff... just the way I like it.... er yeah. nevermind

I can't imagine that the roads in Gaum are anywhere near as bad as they are here in interior Alaska, the kit does just fine. Only scraped a downforcer once!

I have the Pro-Kit also, and I love it. The ride is tighter, but not rediculous, and they basically lower it to the point where the wheel gap is the same at all four corners. I believe it's 1.5" fr, 1.25" rear lower than stock. I've had no problems with alignment, and unless it's a major speed bump, it shouldn't be a problem.

glad i read this post before I ran out and slapped on some goldlines

Does anyone have the goldlines on their P5 with stock wheels (16") and stock shocks?
This was my plan for now... is this a bad idea?

if it is, what is a good set of shocks to pair up with the goldlines?
are the falkens better then goldlines?

any pics?(hand)

Goldline has fast become a very reliable name in suspension tuning, from what I have heard through various forums I visit... they kick arse. The ride quality is supposed to be outstanding. I opted for the Pro Kit only because I got them wholesale...

Goldline + Tokico HP = teh hottness

Not sure about the Falkens, never had any practical experience with those. Do a search with the word "Goldline" and you'll come up with tons of stuff here.

but will they be ok for P5s?

Eibach pro kit is an awesome set up. After all the settling with the weight of the car, I have dropped about 1.8" and sit level. The springs are easy to install your self with basic hand tools. Took me and a friend just a couple of hours to do mine. Here are two pictures of my car from last week end.

For more pictures you can view my cardomain page.
