I have had my MP5 for almost a year now and finaly have the money needed to do the suspension right. I was thinking about a 2" inch drop f&r but not sure if I should get coil overs or springs. I hear good things about Tein but have no clue were to by them or how much they cost. I am also unsure if i need to get new shocks with a 2" drop.

I am leaning towards Skunk2 coilovers with a second choice being Ground Control. From what I hear theses are the best. i'm not postive what shocks would fit my MP5 but would like name brand. I have looked at a couple part sites but if anyone could tell me were to get these parts and or there option on the matter would be greatly aprecatied.

if you want adjustability then you have only one choice for shocks, the mazdaspeeds. they are really pricey. i don't know who told you skunk 2 is the best but they were way off. if you want the best suspension for our cars you need the JIC magic. if that is out of your price range go with the TIEN coilovers. other wise, i would go with lowering springs and new shocks when tockico comes out with the illuminas for our car. i don't like the knock off coilover systems like GC and S2. looks cheap to me and if you live somewhere that is humid, i could see them rusting bad. just my two cents

Yeah I hear TIEN coil overs were good but I have no idea were to purchase them.

consider what you want to use the car for? Are you driving everyday normally? Or are you a Street demon?

NOrmally = springs will do the job...and shocks when they come out(man it's taking a long time for shocks)
Demon = any of the other mentioned...GC and S2 will do the trick, give you the look you want and all, just know that the ride is kindy ruff and speed bumps and underground garages are a challenge (of course depending on how low you set them)

I'm thinking about doing the same for my car. I went to the Tein website and found a local dealer that is pricing them pretty right $185 (close to Options at $180). The local guy is telling me that I need a camber kit for front and back and is doing some research on what is available.

My querstion to ya'll is, do I need the camber kits for front and back and what kind of experience has anyone had with the Tein springs?

I ordered the Tein springs for Options, shipped to me my cost was only $ 205. THey should come in on Thursday and I should be able to install them on Saturday. I will try and post before / after pics when I am done.

Springs or Coilovers

In my opinion.. if you decide to get Coilovers be ready to get new shocks soon, not to mention the bumpy ride.
Your best bet is to get lowering springs.. I've heard alot about the SPOOL springs they lower the car 2" f&r and suppost to have the best ride out of all of them.. If you look around the forum theres a website posted by the name spoolin turbo or somn like
that.

I have the Jic Magic coilovers and they are the best. However with the best comes a price. If you are looking for a race setup go with real coilovers such as Jics or Tein coilovers. On the other hand if you simply want a lowered look, go with springs. GC and Skunk2, that adjustablitly will come at the price of your shocks. Your original shocks are designed with a specific travel length and if you shorten that to much you will end there life quickly. Camber adjustment can be adjusted by adding cam bolts to the top bolts on the lower half of your strut assembly. Camber and caster plates are available from Ground Control and I believe FM Protege was marketing these, but they are not a requirement just for springs. A good alignment is however required not matter what you change. If I were you and this is just a opinion lowered look is easily obtained by just useing springs but you will still be putting a strain on your original shocks. I think that is your best option. Race setup go with Jic Magic they have full adjustability in every way. The ride with my Jics is a little bumby but very sensitive and very precise. Steering is alot different with my coilovers also. It is more accurate and is very touchy on turn in. I Love them though and will not go back price is 1700 though so like I said they come with a BIG TAG. Just my opinion though hope it helps.
