Dropped the speed of at the dealer last night for smoking. Smokes after 15 mins of driving. Should be getting new turbo under the TSB and getting tint on it 30% all around. Hope to have it back by Friday. Just waiting status phone call.
Got a reg. 6 V6 5spd, man do i miss my Speed........

got the update, ordered the updated turbo and will be in on friday so should have my car back on Monday :(

oh well, new trubo for me ! :)

so its an updated part # now? did they mention if it was just updated seals or anything?

i called to get the part number and he hasn't called back yet. He said that they ordered parts from the TSB, and they have seen this alot with the CX-7 and a few MS3's. Mine will be the first MS6 they do.

think i have around 19,3** i think. All stock.

I didn't know there was an actual TSB related to the smoking and/or the turbo... Does anyone have any info on this???

there is a TSB it falls under ms3,ms6 and cx7. I checked and the part they ordered is the updated turbo and the part number is ... L3Y1-13-70ZB.
You can google the part number and find the TSB.

Added note - window tint all windows 30% 130.00 + tax with lifetime warranty. Should have it back Monday.

If possible (and if it's provided), could you post the TSB #? I just googled that part number several different ways and the only links it gave me led me back to this thread.

Much obliged!

I said TSB and not sure that it is really a TSB. I think its a Bulletin from Mazda and hasn't been made public yet. I will see if i can grab a copy of it and get it online.

i can email anyone the actual tsb for this, i am a mazda master tech and would be more than happy to help you guys out with this issue. Just email or PM me and i will get a full vin pull up on waranty for you and the tsb. I believe a service program recall may be coming out in winter or spring since they have determined how many affected units are out there. Kind of like the lack of power rx8 recall, wether affected or not they still want it in to confirm it or not. I encourage any and all effected models to get to their dealers and get it taken care of

Do you mean affected units, like Mazda found that some turbos could be faulty? Or is it a general turbo problem that affects all of our particular K04s as has been hinted around the forums?

I wouldn't mind a copy of this TSB. I imagine you are going to have a considerable request for it. Maybe you should scan it and upload it somewhere to like rapidshare, or another free hosting site and just give people the link.

Symptom and Conditions

Vehicles equipped with DISI engines may experience a hot engine extended idle smoking out of the exhaust condition. This condition may also occur while driving in traffic at very slow speeds.

Repair Procedure

To correctly identify this concern have the tech drive the vehicle to insure it is fully warmed up a road test of 5 miles should be adequate.
Once the engine is fully warmed up allow it to idle for an extended period, this could take up to 30 minutes to produce any type of smoke from the exhaust. Once the smoking has started shut down the engine and perform a compression test and a cylinder leak down test. If both tests results are ok, have the tech remove the precat from the turbo outlet and inspect the exhaust impeller in the turbo for any signs of oil on or around the impeller. The removing of the cat should only be done with a cold engine. Quiz the tech as to the oil change history (time & mileage) what weight oil is being used during vehicle services on vehicles with DISI engines. If there is any sign of oil in the turbo, have the tech replace the turbo, and recheck using the same procedure to confirm the concern is gone.

Standard compression is 185PSI @ 250 RPM
Leak down less than 10%
DISI Engines require 5W30 weight oil.

ok here is wha tmazda will allow me to post up here

Just tell us the Service Bulletin number and issue date. If you really don't want to, I'll wait until Rosenthal Mazda posts it on their web site. They post ALL the TSBs and recalls, because they are enthusiasts themselves.

Should be getting my Speed back today, and will post after I take it out for bout an hour worth of good driving and let you guys know....

now we can finally get an updated turbo??? anyone get the tsb number yet? can't find any information online. THANKS!!

I emailed a REAL Mazda dealer and asked about this TSB... Here's the REAL story:

Subject: RE: Finish Line / Rosenthal Mazda: Contact Us form!

That information exists as a M-Tip for the techs, not as an official Service Bulletin......

So, if you want to reference this M-Tip to make sure your local "Mazda Master Technician" is aware of it, then do so. There currently is NO TSB to make any specific global repair.

BTW, if you want to review/print a copy of EVERY current Mazda vehicle TSB, just go to their web site and scroll down to the Service Bulletin links. That way you won't have someone claiming to be a "Master" posting only the info "allowed".

Thats pretty harsh. Sounds like he was just doing us a favor and telling us what he could. It sounds like "M-Tips" aren't allowed to be disseminated to the public.

Sorry for sounding harsh, but the fact remains that Mazda specific information is readily available from a Mazda Dealer with the real story vs something misrepresented and presented as a special favor from another. More power to the Mazda Master Technician, but I remain skeptical of partial information and mystery...
